After seeing a news clip yesterday on a report on BBC bias, I came across this article from October of last year.

http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/arti … article.do

"It reveals that executives would let the Bible be thrown into a dustbin on a TV comedy show, but not the Koran, and that they would broadcast an interview with Osama Bin Laden if given the opportunity. "

"BBC executives admitted the corporation is dominated by homosexuals and people from ethnic minorities, deliberately promotes multiculturalism, is anti-American, anti-countryside and more sensitive to the feelings of Muslims than Christians"

"Nearly everyone at the summit, including the show's actual producer and the BBC's head of drama, Alan Yentob, agreed they could all be thrown into the bin, except the Koran for fear of offending Muslims."

"It's a publicly funded..."

"Washington correspondent Justin Webb said that the BBC is so biased against America that deputy director general Mark Byford had secretly agreed to help him to 'correct', it in his reports. Webb added that the BBC treated America with scorn and derision and gave it 'no moral weight'."

How much of this is true?  I cannot believe this stuff to be honest, but it would not surprise me if there was some truth to it.

Well the about the point with being more sensitive about Muslims than about Chrisitians... uhm... how shall I put it - that's sort of common sense if you value your life.

The BBC has a very slight left lean.  An "innate liberal" bias as stated by its former political editor Andrew Marr.

Of course no one can totally be impartial, but at very least the BBC attempts it.  And has as of late admitted it needs more impartiality.

So credit where credit is due.

I noticed once when I was browsing that as a Euro source on the Palestine-Isreal deal, they did lean more towards Palestine and US sources are more towards Israel.

Hmmm, though usmarine...exactly which network was this "news clip" reporting bias on?

BBC is dominated by minorites? Deliberately promoting multiculturalism? Nuke them all now! How dare they not promote white supremacy.

I'm more worried about whoever takes that article too seriously. Who the hell is thisislondon.co.uk anyway? Look at their site, it's an entertainment site. Would we get our serious news from the E! network or People magazine?

That really doesn't mean anything these days, both the left and the right are heading for the centre, and so the liberal bias is pretty much lost on anyone who knows a tiny amount on politics and current affairs.

If the Info had come from a more centre orientated paper (The Times, The Guardian) i would be worried but The Daily Mail and
Evening Standard are right wing comics

If the BBC is charged with being biased then the other news channels like CNN or Fox should be thrown to the pit of eternal fire

Speaking of bias, CNN really pissed me off recently. I was watching the Daily Show, when they decided they needed to interrupt with some 'news' about how 2 rockets had been fired at Isreal, one of which put a slight dent in the front of the car. Neither killed or caused much damage. They then went on to repeat the same thing 3 times about how little they knew. CNN FTL.

WTF? I saw that interview, there was nothing sycophantic about it. The main point was pressing the issue of why UK consumers would be paying more for Vista than US consumers - which is a very fair point if you ask me.

LOL...   I guess that's one way of seeing it.

I think we should continuing offending the fundamentalists until they get used to it.  In the meantime, we can apprehend the extremists as they try to attack people.  In a way, you could use it as a test to determine who the crazies are among the general population.

I think this about sums it up:

Andrew Marr wrote:

'The BBC is not impartial or neutral. It's a publicly funded, urban organisation with an abnormally large number of young people, ethnic minorities and gay people. It has a liberal bias not so much a party-political bias. It is better expressed as a cultural liberal bias.'

For a company that every television owning household is forced by law to pay for, the BBC in my opinion should remain distant from ALL cultures, reporting in a non biased, and more importantly, professional manner.  For the UK, forced to pay a tv licence purely to fund the BBC, it is annoying to not be able to watch a programme without a seemingly negative view of the native white Englishman.  We are stuck with either crap repeats of shows on earlier that day/week (already "paid" for), a news team that are scared to report on events in the UK not involving any minority, and an overall swaying towards programmes aimed at homosexuality or immigrants.

I'm fortunate that I'm now exempt TV licencing for the next 3 years, as I think it is nothing but a farce that it is mandatory for everyone to pay for such overpaid, over-rated and biased bag of toss.

In Ireland we have to pay a TV license and are still subjected to advertisements on both of the State broadcaster channels! I can't really understand that one myself. As regards the BBC I don't really recall them being particularly bias towards any minorities imo. They do have a slightly left leaning stance but I still regard them as the best broadcaster when it comes to news and of fairly high quality when it comes to other areas of programming, particularly some of the more offbeat stuff on BBC 2.

I just stick with Sky, more channels, though I do notice that the BBC is a bit afraid of offending minorities. It should be led by that guy in the video on that other thread. Can't remember his name or the thread, hope you know who I'm talking about.

Do you mean Chris Morris? He'd be a great head of BBC, no one would be safe!

As for Sky (in terms of news), I think they are on a slippery slope towards out and out entertainment/news. In the last year they have started using ambient music behind news stories and have adopted an increasingly 'FOX news-esque' approach to their presentation. Aside from Adam Boulton and Tim Marshall they are a joke.
