Right, I'll cut to the point.

I was playing on a server then, I was also on teamspeak.

I said to my mate i'm getting serious FPS lag here, and he is getting the same problem.

No programs I have are updating; And I've also restarted my pc.

Each time I open BF2 it's ok until i join a server; then it's incredibly slow.

Yes my PC isn't all that great but it's handled BF2 for quite a while now - And my mates PC is much better.

Seriously help needed guys I'd be glad of a quick response.

Check out your ping time when you are on the server...test your connection at http://gamer.ubicom.com
If its not your connection and its your PC..providing BF2 ran fine in the past...maybe you have a trojan or a virus eating your resources. Also If you are using XP see what processes are running and how much resources are being used.

Well my connection = 2mb

I don't have a trojan for sure, but think my friend got the EXACT same thing at the same time like he spoke down TS.

So you see he can't of got a trojan same time as me ?

I checked and there are no processes eating my resources.

Also may I i add i had 20 ping on the server 20-50 at max

I've had the same prob. I'll br runnin great then all of a sudden I lag all to hell. my ping in game is still 14-30 and my cpu is quick as shit. most times its just a lag spike and we recover but other than that I have to relog.

I'm having the exact same problem. 1.5mb ADSL connection, 2.93GHz Pentium 4, 512mb RAM and 128mb Radeon... Never had any problems until now. Happend at about 7:00am 28th Jan(CST). Dunno what caused it. I was playing online for a while fine, disconnected and loaded SF and the problem started.

Does this happen only when you play with your mate, or all the time? When did it start happening? did you install anything new? drivers etc.
Does it happen on all servers?
Have you made sure you HD isn't starting to fill up? how about defragmenting your HD's?

I know I'm not explaining how this could happen to both of you - I'm just suggesting possible solutions to you.

If you did absolutely nothing when this started happening I'd get worried. Otherwise I'd chech up on things like inadequate PSU (yes, stupid suggestion - happened to me tho ) or malware. You can never be too sure you haven't got any.

Well, I wasnt playing with anybody specific. I tried two servers, same on both. Singleplayer is fine so it must be the net connection... Whats your ISP VoiD?

Download VisualRoute and run it towards the IP of your game-servers and see if it detects any data-loss on the way. That way you could pin-point if the problem is on the part of the server, your ISP or somewhere along the way.

Yea - It's weird it's totally unplayable and nobody knows exactly what it is.

Sure, it doesn't hurt I guess..

Does it happen in vanilla or SF? I heard people complaining about SF being a rescource hog

Other than checking to see if any point along the route to your server is having problems, I might suggest posting/asking other users of the same service (i.e. TS) and see if anyone has experienced the same problems.

Well one thing is you know Xfire?

It just said we have disconnected you due to the server upgrading - So I thought that's it.

But it's not you see x-fire is closed and it stil does it ?

Maybe It's stil upgrading even know the program isn't open?

But another friend I know has x-fire and he doesnt get it?

Did you list your computer specifications? I know it's strange that it would start happening out of the blue, but you never know.

If it is upgrading while not open you would still see the process in task manager, and could terminate it and see what happened.

Well my specs are absoloutely awful so i'd rather not but:-

Radeon 9600 Gcard
512ram

It gets worse but I wont go on

But you see my mates PC is top of the range when it was built a few months back so it's not the fact that my PC is aload of ****

Any luck with VisualRoute?

Are you absolutely certain that you havn't got malware on your computer? I can attribute atleast a couple of my problems to malware taking up rescources and bandwith.

If you're having lag problems while using TeamSpeak and BF2 at the same time then it's got something to do with TeamSpeak. Someone I know had the lag problem when he used TeamSpeak while playing BF2 and solved it by adjusting his TeamSpeak settings. I don't know the details but wotever it wos he did it worked.

Ah yes, I'm certain that you'r not a noob - not that it matters much though, everyone can be infected by this shit...

I run three different programs periodically, aswell as a anti-virus program.
ad-aware won't find as much as spy-bot - which inturns won't find everything ewido will find..

If in doubt, run several different programs that attacks malware in different ways...
