I'ts cheaper to junk the car if it's in that bad of shape.

You'd be better off replacing the seats entirely than trying to repair them, especially if the car is pretty old.

I think it would be a bitch to try to replace the material on the seats.

Fuck. That.

The rest of the car is in awesome shape. Hell, even the seat frames are in good condition. Its the moldy carpet and 30-year old foam seat material and panels that are the problem.

If the car's that old, then replacement parts shouldn't be that expensive, but you're still better off getting it professionally reupholstered.

Better yet, call Superslim...

Companies will price gouge anything they buy for you, so giving them the materials will save you alot of $$$

What kind of car??

The carpet will cost, you'll have to get it from a dealer as it comes precut and moulded to fit correctly. Don't forget to scotch guard it before you replace it. Thats cheap and you can get it in most hardware stores.

A few meters of carpet and a nail-gun - how hard can it be?

Here is how you do it:

Find a good mechanic, ask family and friends. Then ask the mechanic for a good upholstery guy. Take the car to him and ask how much for labour, you will supply the fabric. Ask him how many yards of fabric you need. Then you tell me, I'll link you to some supplier sites, pick what you want, I ordered it for you, shipped to you COD. Then take it to him and BANG your done. It might be a good idea, depending on condition, to have the foam replaced, not expensive, but will feel and look like new.

Wouldn't it be easier to go to a junk yard, find the same car with severe body damage & just buy new seats?

this is for the Charger?

carpet is easy, but you should to take the seats to an upholstery guy.  if you can get the application specific parts you could try it yourself.  you will likely need a pair of hog ring pliers.  using raw materials will require sculpting the foam,  and an industrial sewing machine for the covers.  and you better be experienced with sewing because one poor stitch and that material will deform and the whole thing will look like home made shit.
