Don't forget Shea, either. We'll have Citi Field soon enough.
Yeah, but no one cares about Shea/Mets.
...

Asshole.
Oh, there are Mets fans...Imagine that!

(by the way, I hate the Yankees).

There is night life everywhere for the most part. Don't move to the Bronx, Staten Island, or Queens, they're fucking boring.
Brooklyn is my favorite. I'll actually be moving there at the end of next year. All the way at the end near Ave. U and Neck Road. Brooklyn is actually very nice, and after spending a lot of time there, Queens is just annoying in comparison. I almost feel like Queens wants to be Brooklyn, but anyway. Prices are steep, so try to stick to an outlying borough. I would suggest Brooklyn first, then Queens; Manhattan is way too expensive, and I don't know much about the Bronx. And contrary what people may tell you, NYC is quite safe. I feel safer in NYC than I do in Albany or Binghamton any day, you just need to have some common sense.

And remember: Don't stare at the skyscrapers, unless you want a douchebag to slam into you and embarrass you in front of everyone.

Note: I'll probably be that douchebag.

I have an office on 48th and park. I love soho. Every time my wife comes with me we spend the majority of our time just wandering around that area checking out little restaurants and bars.

You could live in cowami's closet . Never been to New York (will visit someday) but what about an apartment overlooking Central Park or something, don't know if that's a nice area.

Nice area, really expensive.

Don't even try, unless you're on Donald Trump's level.

EDIT: It's a doorman service neighborhood, if that puts it into perspective.

Isn't N'York more crowded than Chi-town though? Only real draw I see is that you can go to Daily Show/Colbert Report tapings often.

I'm moving there.  When?  Not until next year...it's the soonest I can get my job transferred out there.

Problem being?  I've never been to NYC before.  I'm heading out there in August/September to check it out...but I figured I'd post in here to see if I can get any advice/input from people here.  My best friend just moved out there...he found an apartment in Bay Ridge, which is supposedly a pretty nice part of town.  Low crimes rates, not too expensive, easy transportation to Manhattan.  He told me I should look there and Park Slope...but other than that...I don't know much of anything about the neighborhoods.  Manhattan is probably too expensive for my tastes and I know there's parts of Brooklyn that aren't the nicest...but...what do you guys think?

So yeah, any help you guys can give would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

...oh, and don't spam this with "move to _____ instead" or "new york sucks".  Your post will be deleted.
how come u are not planning to stay in Chicago Land area?
