I was wondering if the MGs on fighter or bomber planes do damage to APCs or tanks. I assumed that they didn't, but earlier I was flying the J10 and saw a tank at North Base on Wake. So I decided to go bomb it. On my way towards it I decided to lay down the MGs on the turret to kill the gunner if there was one. To my surprise the tank blew up before I even got the chance to drop the bombs, and I ended up with both kills. I don't know exactly what happened. Either the tank was already hurt and the MGs just finished it off. Or maybe the tank got hit by a SRAW and caught on fire, and I hit it with the guns before it died so it gave me the kill. I suppose this whole story was quite pointless as I could have just asked if the guns hurt tanks, at least enough to make a difference.

They do minimal damage, you can take out a tank in 2-3 full speed passes with MG's blazing.

I've taken to strafing flags that change from friendly to neutral.  If the other side doesn't have any air cover some people hop out of the vehicle they are in to avoid being bombed to death.  I've gotten several kills that way from 1/3 of the way across the map.  Just point your hud at the flag indicator and fire away. 

If your the only jet on your side with no chance of rearming, use your mg wisely.  You can still cause havok while your teammates (hopefully) attempt to recapture your airbase.

Guns really don't hurt tanks much at all. You might even be better off not shooting your MGs so the tank driver won't know that you're coming to drop bombs on him. Drivers usually move forward or backward when being hit by MGs and it can ruin your angle for dropping bombs.

MGs are very effective against APCs though.

When that happens I usually stay high and focus on keeping the enemy chopper suppressed, or just chase around enemy planes when I don't even have any AA missiles. They get freaked out when they hear the missile lock and you keep them away from the rest of your team.
