I have three partitions:

Main (C:) 142GB.
Media (F:) 50GB.
RECOVERY (*) 3 GB. contains all my XP installation files. can only be accessed through partition software (I'm using Norton partition Magic 8)

I do not have a legitimate XP CD, as that's what is on mr. secret partition. I do have a legitimate key

two weeks ago I created the media partition to keep things neat, but it causes a shitload of stuttering and slowdown when I'm accessing both at once. Now, I can't even remove it. Some random error message. Instead of figuring out the problem and going back to 2 partitions, I want to wipe the whole thing clean, including the recovery partition.

Interestingly, on the recovery partition is what seems like pretty much everything on your average XP disc.

Think I could burn this onto a CD and install it from there? I'd rather not use some random copy instead

will there be any issues should I have to resort to a copy of XP?

I would burn it to a disk, and see if you can launch the installer from the CD.  Once you verify that you can successfully install from your burned copy then you can wipe out your recovery partition.

If you just burn the files it will not be bootable ... trying getting an image of the partiion with somrhting like ghost.

Umm, dam.

What I would do it, get a XP cd, reformat it.

The files on your recovery look like they are correct, but better play it safe just in case.

Also, imo partitioning is just bad. I lost a HD because of it once =/

Ok, as getting a copy of XP isn't a problem -> 32 bit or 64 version? (does my key even work on a 64 bit version?)

Wrong. Support for 64bit is minimal. 32-bit is best for now. Also, there are barely any common programs that have a 64bit platform version. I think GIMP has one. But CS3 doesn't, nor do games. So the performance increase is so minute, you cannot notice it.

You do realize that you can't use your Windows key with just any version of Windows XP, right?  That key is an OEM key, and as such won't work for some versions of XP.
