Ok, my soundcard has fuckzed up lol.  The thing is that the mobo's on board sound works fine but only on Vista as there are drivers, there are no drivers for XP MCE, any ideas on porting drivers or something?  The reason I don't use Vista is because the internet doesn't work on it so I'm kinda in a dilemna.

Specs:

Mobo: ASUS P5N-E SLI
Soundcard: SoundBlaster Audigy 2

Don't think the rest matters.

Wow, it's the other way around for me. XP wont let me use the internet, Vista will.

You will just have to wait for SP1 if you are positive there are no driver for it.

My XP let me do everything: Internet and Sound! I have an creative soundblaster audigy (only 30 euro ), and it works perfect.

On your problem: are there other people on the internet having the same problem? Google is always your best friend solving PC problems.

yeah i have vista too and the Internet problem is not new[404] this is a kind of spyware who makes the failure....
if you use OPERA as Explorer you wont have any problems....

but most i hope that Microsoft will fix the problem....every day an update?!

Start > Right Click My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > Are there any exclamation marks? What does it say next to your sound card?

Try "Rolling back" the driver.
If that also fails, uninstall it.

Do you know the excact name and model (e.g SE, Value, Platinum, ZS...)?

I made a guess as to what model you have - Try downloading this

Failing that, this should identify and download the right driver for you.

Report back!

I may suck at PS, but i rekon i can help you with this!

Thanks for the help, Karma.

This is my Device Manager and I'd take a wild guess that it's the highlighted one that's causing the problems.  Gonna try installing drivers etc now.

EDIT: Ok, I tried installing the driver and it said it couldn't find my device, I've tried unplugging it and plugging it back in but same prob..  I guess the soundcard's just fried?

Hmmm....

It seems odd that there are no exclamation marks by Sound, video and game controls, but there are lots related to PCI devices.

I *think* this may indicate the actual PCI slot in the mobo is causing the problem. This is a complete guess, but trying using a different slot? That would explain why you got the error with the driver update - the pc cant see though the dodgy PCI to the actual card inside. Try updating mobo firmware? - Not sure how / if that works....

Any exact error messages?

Did the card just randomly stop working one day?

EDIT: Then again, it says PCI device - maybe the card is the problem after all. Do you have another one around to plug in and try?
