I don't really care about stats, but it gives me something to work towards. I don't really care about rank or global score, I care more about the medals and such, just because it's a personal achievment of such.

I see your point. It just does not make sense to me. If you are talking about someone who is new to the game...fine. But we all know that pretty much is not the case.
I like stats just for the fun of it not to show how '1337 this or that is', only thing that annoys me about them is every time stats are down you get 5-10 topics in a week asking why the stats are down.
