0815 is a german slang for something thats nothing special or just standard.

It came from World War I where the MG 08/15 was the most used weapon of the german army.
08 is the caliber (8mm) and 15 stands for 1915 when this serie was developed.

Later people started using 0815 as a synonym for mainstream and today most peple dont know anymore where it came from.

We used 1337 instead of leet in the old times because hacker websites replaced letters with numbers so they would get discovered by search engines. Of course, when google came along they were screwed.
