I agree k30dxedle, this is something I've been thinking for a while.

I noticed years ago during a UK election, The Conservatives poster campaign was hard hitting, highlighting some of the problems with the current system and showing what they intended to do about it.  Labours campaign was mud slinging, "Remember x years ago when conservatives were in power and this went wrong?".  I was annoyed that labour weren't even telling us what they were going to do they they were simply banking on slandering the opponents and was appalled that the mud slinging won.

This got me thinking that no matter which side you elect both sides have to work together to run the country and parties creating huge wedges between each other is harmful to the country as the government may ignore vital steps based purely on who's idea it was.  Think of the US, instead of the congress and the white House working together it seems they are continually having little power struggles which are achieving nothing but angering the country.

I think politicians need to set an example for the people and stop with the hate and realise that the amount of hate and distrust that is deliberately focused on the opposing political parties is unhealthy.

A while back the terrorist lovers accusations were almost daily on this site and I used to be stunned at the hypocrisy.  Some would insult a "Democrat", "liberal", whatever saying that insulting the government was showing dissent to the terrorists which showed them they were winning.  Well if insulting your president has terrorists cheering in the street then turning on your fellow country men and saying the because they disagree with you they jump for joy everyone a us soldier is killed and they enjoy seeing many deaths becasue they didnt vote for the war has got the terrorists firing their ak47's in the air.

PS: the spell checker wants to change the word politician to pollution. couldn't agree more.

Liberals did 911

To date I've never heard somebody here referred to as a liberal or conservative...only in overseas news articles/forums.

You can't prove to me that you didn't do 9/11.

If Liberals are really Progressives, what does that make Conservatives?

Alright. What is up with this? It seems that the only argument some people (not going to name names) have is "You're a stupid liberal, therefore you are the sole cause of the world's problems and are always wrong." For God's sake, that's essentially saying, "I disagree with you, so you're wrong, and I'm going to shut out all evidence otherwise and repeat this mindless babble over and over until you get exasperated and go away."
That's the problem with the world - it's full of idiotic automatons.

Well the very verb 'to conserve' means to 'keep things the way they are'. Sound progressive to you?

Don't fix what doesn't need fixing. If by Progressive you mean moving backwards, I agree with this.

Miller, this is not responding to you, i know it's sarcsm, but some here actually believe it, so this is to them:

Theres too much stupidity in America to restrict it to one party, group, or area, and you know it.

And now my view:

However, it does seem to me that a good chunk of the "liberals" on other forums will repeatedly post "OMG bush sux, he send peeps to die for oil!!" but offer no proof, or even respond to rebuttals, so, in that sense, they are stupid "MTV told me to do it" people.  At the same time, you can't possibly make the argument that all of the liberals here are dumb, just read the first few posts in any D&ST thread, and you'll be impressed (or at least I was) with the amount of knowledge these guys have.

Likewise, I've met people who are easily equally idiotic on the opposite side of the spectrum.  We all know the views of the religious far right, and I wont even bother with them, you simply cannot debate someone who believes that god made his views the one true way.

Basically, there are Idiots among all of us.  The only sad thing is that we let them vote too...

I'm religious, I'm far right. I'm not one who thinks there is one right way for anything, even when it comes to God. Just reinforcing your point about how not all are idiots and so shouldn't be grouped with those who are.

GREGALOGUE: WHY TRUTHERS MUST DIE
The only thing I love more than conspiracies, are people who promote them. That's why I love Truthers, attention seeking dopes who claim to seek the 'truth" behind 9/11. They believe the real explanation - that fundamentalist bastards flew planes into buildings - is way too simple, and believing that makes you blind to the truth. They ask that you leave your mind "open" to other explanations - as if openmindedness means wisdom, when it simply means empty.

People embrace conspiracies out of narcissism. They want you to believe they're smarter than you, that you're a victim of false consciousness. Meaning, you're comotose to the evils of America. It's funny to hear this from a guy who still lives in his mom's basement.

Whenever I meet a dope who blames 9/11 on Bush - I always ask: how can you prove YOU didn't do it? He can't answer. He's retarded.

The truth about conspiracies is that they aren't any. If you can't prevent office gossip, how can you assume a a government can keep a secret? Human beings are natural blabbermouths. By the way, Harry Potter dies.

The best way to crush a theorist is to tell them that the real conspiracy is the plan to make people LIKE THEM fall for conspiracies. So when someone says that 9/11 was an inside job, I reply, "well, that's what the Jews want you to think," and walk away. But, truthers are as scummy as Holocaust deniers. People who embrace conspiracies are inherently destructive, because it prevents them from focusing on stuff that really matters: like terrorism or my birthday party (which is coming up by the way)

These idiots think they're putting their own lives at risk by touting their tripe. So maybe they deserve death, even if it proves they were right.

One thing that annoys me is that I would usually be perceived as being one of the liberal mob and I would consider myself very conservative on a lot of issues. I feel very strongly that prison and the justice system should be tougher in many, many cases for example.

Labels are too broad. There are often many subtle facets to a person's political mind-set.

No liberal will call the conservatives as fraternizing with the enemy, or actively seeking to promote evil.

Which is what some conservatives had said.
