I know this is really not that great of a computer but, I had better fps a while ago....

Specs are as follows-

-intel Pentium 4 cpu 1.8ghz,
-1.25 gigs of ram
-512mb graphics card (Nivdia 7600 gs)
-320 gig harddrive

A few days ago I wanted to play counterstrike, so I hop onto a server and now I'm only getting like 9-15 frames per seconds, for some reason I did a test and I'm only getting 20 ish fps. ( that test you can run in cs's start up menu.) I'm just curious as to what happen. I have a new hard drive everything is clean did virus scans and everything else. What gets me is that cs runs like ass and battlefield 2 plays great ( I never  have had problems with that game ever ).

Anyone know what's up it's been bugging the hell out of me for a couple of nights. I'm getting a better computer, but I still need this one to play good when I have friends over and stuff.....Thanks in advance.

edit:

I remember having about 40-60fps a while ago. could it be that source is just shit ?

Try asking in a CS forum. Seriously.

Try being less stupid.

I'd ask on a CS:S forum, it could just be related to settings on CS.

try changing you fps_max in the command console to anything above 40, idk, maybe something changed this value perhaps

I've never had CS:S so I have no idea what the problem is, but have you tried reinstalling it?

edit: spelling.
