Anyone else getting massive slowdowns in BF2 lately? I know a new PB was released yesterday and it might be the autopatching in the background that's killing my game. I mean... even at 50 ping on an empty server causes massive lag. I'm about to update it now manually to try and figure it out.

EDIT: Odd... my PB is fully patched, but massive slowdowns still occur. I'm not the only one with this problem, my friend (who accesses from a different location) is having this same problem.

Yep same here. I will in a online game, get killed, respawn and have massive lag to the point it's unplayable. Thanks PunkBuster! Nice job releasing your crappy patch right before the weekend!

yeah. It was hell. Is hell. But I've got plans to go out tonight so I don't have time to try and fix it.

I hope they fix it soon though. I might just try deleting the most recent .htm files from the pb folders...

ditto here. pinging high 20's this morning but felt like i was trying to play while doing a virus, spyware scan and disk defrag all at the same time. the game did smooth out after awhile. haven't played since but just about to go on now.

yeah, mine was running a bit slower too.

also, it seems PB is going a tad kick crazy on a lot of servers.  all my regular servers just kick people randomly.  its been happening enough that on the 3-4 servers i frequent, the admins have posted to rejoin and that its PBs fault.

Hmm,the only thing I noticed today was a heavy sound lag when commanding,my buddy said that it lags like hell on his machine...

The random kicking is probably caused by not properly updated punkbuster-version,I got this kicking-orgy all day yesterday until I finally managed to update pb.

I'm finally back from going out with friends... but I probably won't be hunting for solutions tonight (Happy Chinese New Year to everyone, by the way)... I was thinking, perhaps, removing and redownloading the new PB files from their website.

Special Forces seemed to work fine, I don't know for sure though. I'll test it out tomorrow if not tonight when I'm sick of essays and Boethius.

Ohh,that's the problem, the server is running an older version...

In that case just type pb_security 0 into the console when you enter the server, this should probably fix it(that was the advice given to me,so no guarantee).

Well whatever has happened... I have gone from a great gaming experience.. to BF2 now being totally unplayable..

The longest i can go without a "There is a problem with your connection" is about 30secs, and my ping randomly jumps between 50(usual pint) and about 400, and then anywhere in between.

Its crazy because it doesnt seem to be effecting everybody...

Go to the official punkbuster website, and patch your game either by manual install or by the patching tool. I did it manually and my buddy did it with the tool and it fixed it all up. Before that, yes, it was unplayable for the both of us.
