Old patches are cool. I guess EA/DICE were toying around with the officer ranks for awhile before 1.2, and they were programmed into the game, though no one had em. Since ranks 1st Lt and up werent programmed in the points system (or something) yet, BF2 just assigns different ranks to everything above 2nd Lt, though many of the ranks look different than they do now. Note My 4 stars being in a diagonal row instead of a square. Anyway, the way the ranks were assigned was if you were a 1st LT, you got Colonel. Captain gets 1 star, Major 2 star, etc. Adam was a 1 star at the time, so patch 1.03 boosted his rank up 4 places and made him a 5 star, whcih didnt end up making it into the game as a real rank.

Also, on a side note, 3 star and 4 star ranks end up even cooler in the old patch. 3 star generals get the EA logo as their rank, and 4 stars get the Dice logo as their rank.

think about it they base games off real life, they dont copy it, like bunny hopping, thats not possible in real life, jumping for 10 min with 50 lbs of crap on your back, and all vihucle all have unlimeted gas?????, and cant climb ladders with your gun, cant rifle-butt, if you say theres no 5-star in USMC, then half the crap in BF2 shouldnt be in the game.

Yes, but the ranks *are* realistically based off of the USMC ranks. The only discrepancy I've found is that they don't have the red border around them, and Master Gunnery Sergeant lacks the... thing... on the top of the circle.
