I need some help regarding the Asrock 775V88+ motherboard. My "new" MSI 915G motherboard burned up about 2 weeks ago, so I had to revert to my old Asrock 775V88+... Unfortunately I keep getting disk errors and other problems the whole time! I have the latest BIOS release, and I know the card works, Before I upgraded I have played over 100 hours BF2 on it.

My main concern is that my C: partition on a SATA drive keeps getting corrupted. I have all anti-virus and crap, so it's not a virus. It just fails to boot with the error message

"<Windows-root>/system(I think)/hal.dll not found. Please repair the file by re-installing it from the Windows CD."

When I start a disk partitioner from a diskette, it says the partition is corrupted and it might be caused by an MBR error. I tried resetting the MBR from the Windows XP SP2 CD that I've got, but for no good. It just got my other partitions deleted (160GB drive, 20GB C:, 80GB D:, rest Linux/unpartitioned) It's a pretty new Hard Drive (Western Digital something 160GB), not even 3 months old. It and everything else worked fine with my old motherboard.

I also experience strange random crashes and reboots. Like, every time I press "QUIT" in BF2, the system reboots and Windows then gives me an error message saying that the system was reset bla bla bla... And sometimes after loading a map the system freezes until I get kicked, and then unfreezes (lol?)...

The specs are: (They have worked 90% fine before with this motherboard)

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 630, 3.0GHz, HT
RAM: 2x512MB 400MHz (Kingston KVR and Corsair budget something)
GFX: nVidia GeForce 6600 AGP8X, 256MB
Sound card: Creative SoundBlaster Live! Value
PSU: HuntKey DH 500, 500W (System ran fine on 450 before)
One DVD burner and one CD burner.
Logitech G11 and an MX518 are the only USB devices connected.

LOL-note: I have a 7900GT, 2GB DDR2 and a Raptor lying here being useless, because the Asrock 775V88+ doesn't support them... It's sad... And yes, I will buy a new mobo, but I don't have the money right now. I just want to get my old rig working again, so that I at least can play a little bit BF2 and HL2:EP1

Tech info on the Asrock 775V88+

Northbridge: VIA PT880
Southbridge: Sorry, don't know
Two SATA connectors
Two IDE connectors
Socket 775
4 DDR1 memory slots
One AGP8X port
5 PCI ports

Finally:

ONLY SERIOUS ANSWERS, PLEASE!

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Bf2 is known for unknown crashes so you are not alone there. If your in game resolution is different from your desktop it could happen. Most likely you just need to reinstall the game.

Could you please bother to BOTH read AND understand the post before you answer, maybe?
