DUSTIN ‘SCREECH’ DIAMOND GOES ON ANTI-SEMITIC RAMPAGE
Port Washington, Wisconsin – Dustin Diamond, best known as “Screech” from “Saved by the Bell,” unleashed a barrage of anti-semitic slurs on Saturday as his house was re-possessed, but failed to generate a response from Jewish community leaders.
“We know about those remarks,” said Marvin Blau of the Jewish Defense Federation. “But it’s only that ‘Screech’ guy. If he didn’t say it to Mr. Belding, it’s not worth getting worked up about.”
Diamond has been selling T-shirts that say “I paid $15 to save Screech’s house” on his website www.getdshirts.com to raise the money necessary to catch up on unpaid mortgage bills. By Saturday, however, he had raised only $45 and owed $55 for Web hosting. Bank officials took his house due to the unpaid mortgage and declined to loan him $10 to pay his Internet service provider.
Local police officers, who typically accompany bank officials during foreclosures to prevent violence, had to restrain Diamond while he screamed anti-semitic epithets as his bean bag chairs and unsold t-shirts were thrown onto the sidewalk and his locks were changed.
“You know it’s Jews who cancelled ‘Saved by the Bell: the New Class,’” he yelled as two officers held him back. “That guy who played Mr. Belding was a Jew and he was always upstaging me, which is why I never got any more good parts, even though I would have been perfect for that role Mark-Paul [Gosselaar, aka ‘Zack Morris’] got on ‘NYPD Blue.’ He wasn’t a Jew, but he totally kissed up to that Jewish casting director!”
Diamond then accosted the bank officials taking possession of his home. “Are you a Jew?” he demanded. “I bet you told all your Jew friends not to buy my t-shirts just so you could take my home! You people worked out everything, didn’t you?”
The actor’s former co-stars said they don’t take Diamond’s anti-semitic comments seriously.
“Dustin never gets mad at anything. He probably just saw how much attention Mel Gibson got for saying those crazy things about Jews and figured this might drive traffic to his website,” said former “Saved by the Bell” cast member Mario Lopez. “But I guess Dustin screaming ethnic slurs is like that tree falling in the forest with nobody around to hear.”
“Wait, isn’t Dustin Jewish?” asked former co-star Elizabeth Berkley, aka “Jesse Spano,” reached on set of the direct-to-DVD movie “Showgirls 3: the Shaving.”
When reached for comment, Merrill Witzman of the Jewish Family League said, “I used to watch ‘Saved by the Bell’ all the time. I love Screech! I’m not familiar with anything he’s said recently, but do you remember the episode where Zach and Screech invented a cream that ended up curing acne, but there were side effects? It turned the person’s face maroon!”
Diamond’s wife complained that her husband wasn’t being properly condemned in the media for his behavior.
“Just because Mel Gibson is a big celebrity, he gets all sorts of attention for his anti-semitic remark.
