Lizzard is actually right on this one. The taliban was given shit loads of cash and weapons by the CIA to fight the USSR in the afgahn-soviet war.Bubbalo wrote:

You do know that it was the US who brought the Taliban to power in the first place?
Yep, the US supplied the Mudjahadeen/Taliban with weapons during the soviet war in Afganistan (1979). This war turned out to be the "Vietnam war" for the Red Army.
I'm always right on the facts. It's our interpretation that differs.Liberal-Sl@yer wrote:

Its not a stretch at all. There was a recent video of the Taliban videotaping a kid beheading a grown man....and you find it hard for them to get a kid to blow himself up unknowingly. If you have the mindset of teaching kids to kill a man by your hand and detaching his head on tape....duh!!!! Of course this story is very plausible and probably accurate.Bubbalo wrote:

And how often have they tried to trick a kid by telling him to wear a vest that shoots flowers?
They have plenty of kids who'll help them with out being tricked (per se), they don't need to take risks on others.
By the way, the story came about because the kid came up to an Afgan check point, asked for help and showed them the belt he was wearing. The soldiers revealed the story and then it came out into the media.

But they weren't taking risks because they were involving kids who knew exactly what they were doing and weren't going to sell them out.DeathBecomesYu wrote:

That is not the point. Yes, they are training kids to do some pretty evil stuff, more like brainwashing kids to do this stuff "knowingly" but its not a giant leap to use kids they could care less about. This kid was targeted and was probably not the first or last kid/ adult that could be used like this. There are even adults who have said that this is a tactic that is well known..first aimed at adults but now towards kids. This is not the first time I have heard about this. Quite a few suicide bombings were done by people who had no idea they were about to be blown up. Also, as someone else said, kids are used by the Taliban and groups in Iraq to get past checkpoints and then blow themselves up, including the kids. So its not at all far fetched in the least.Bubbalo wrote:
