upgrade this old rig

my girls sister got addicted to WoW but her PC is pretty outdated (one of my very old systems I´ve sold her at times) and the graphics are mostly a pain as she plays in 800x600 (girls). Lets upgrade it a little.

Facts:
CPU: AMD64 3200+ Venice S. 939
RAM: 1024MB Kingston HyperX DDR400
Mobo: Gigabyste S939 Nvidia NforceUltra3
GPU: Nvidia Gefore 5900XT 128 MB
and the rest, of course

I was thinking about adding another GB RAM and another GPU. Her budged is maxxed 300€.

As she got my LOTRO buddiecode she wants to play try this game also.

What do you guys suggest? Especially for the GPU.

on a budget, and because WoW uses little system resources, you could do with a 7600gt, or splurge for the 7900..not sure how much they are in europe compared to the states, but i think that the 7600 should be well under 200euro. definitely another gig of ram. keep it as cheap as possible i think...

It's funny - I've got an almost identical system to that lying around. A 3200+, 1GB RAM, 5900XT - only difference is, mine's 754.

Gpu: dont buy more powerfull than 7600gt, cos your (her) proc is to weak and the gpu wont be used interely.

Maybe, or a 3700+. Both are good. I'd expect better gaming performance from a 3700+ though.

That should be well within your 300 Euro limit.

It does WoW on all highs @ 1024x768. 16x Anisotropic Filtering and 6x Anti-Aliasing

I was referring to the people that kept saying get a 7900. Unless there is one of those for AGP now but last I checked the 7800GS was the best nVidia card for AGP, but nobody needs that for WoW.

Hmmm my lack of german speak skills just hit me.

But yeh, definitely another GB RAM.

Maybe something like a 7600 / 7900 GFX card, saving you some cash to buy a new processor.

I always feel 512MB RAM on an older GFX card is a waste, as its the clock speeds that matter more, not the amount of memory they have.

Good idea. But a x1950pro 256mb should be enough unless you play in 1600*1200 or higher.

X2 4200+?? Since when was the X2 available for the AGP slot motherboard? I wasnt aware that skt939 HAD AGP
