ok i change all the lines i want to change and then i go to save it and it tells me the pth or filename is incorrect and that it can't make a .utxt. file

To allow you to save a .UTXT, you need to include speech marks around the save name- e.g.
You need to save it to a place like your desktop., or to your documents folder.
Then open up the directory for the localizations
(c:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Localization\)
then go to the folder where you saved the edited localizations.
And just click and drag them across. (you may have to accept the confirmation from UAC).

press ALT in the folder in Vista, should bring up like the tools menu thing
select tools, folder options
then find the tick box that says "Hide extentions for known file types"
apply the settings
then goto your english.utxt file
rename the English.utxt to English.txt
then u can open and edit all the lines you need.
then when your done just save it.
rename it back to a .utxt file
and your done.
