Is there a differ between the rank i get when i hit 20 000 and i dont have the basic knife medal... not quite good for it yet... lol

Not really, just that you will have another icon at the side of your name and I belive that you will get better chance to be commander if you like it. Just go knife for a rond and you will probably get it. and use it when you got radar over you.
Find a server with the lowest ping that is a Karkand 24/7. Karkand is probably one of the only maps you'll be able to accomplish this feat regularly. Other maps are spread out too much to concentrate on it.
Its a badge by the way. And if you dont have it, you'l just be a master sgt, not a first sgt.
