Ok, so the only games I have for the PC is the Battlefield series (and Guild Wars) and I'm looking into buying more games for the PC ... anyone got any good recommendations?

^^^^All of those are good.

If you just want a fun game where you can waste a couple of hours try Just Cause.....not the best game in the world but its a good laugh.

The game has been confirmed for the Xbox 360 and PC.
This means it will be available on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
No word yet if there will be a Nintendo Wii version.

Take a gander at my collection. I can't say as all are good, but I've enjoyed a good number.

First and foremost on your priorities for purchasing PC games is to find out if there are demos available, and to try those first to see if you'll even like the game. Allow me to suggest a few titles to start with, according to genre:

FPS/FPS-Adventure

Aliens vs Predator 2
- The Good: Great single player campaigns.
- The Bad: Low multiplayer population.

Hitman Trilogy (http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=647054 there...an actual link)
- The Good: Play as a humorless bald assassin out to kill bad guys for money. Shipped complete with a flapping digital red tie.
- The Bad: Sometimes frustrating to get through missions without killing everything in sight. No multiplayer.

Mafia
- The Good: You get to take part in a typically-campy, old-timey 20's/30's/etc. mob movie script in a remarkably-polished environment (spanning city, track and countryside, as well as additional "mission areas") that looks good to this day. If you have a force-feedback controller, you even feel it when you go over cobblestones and curbs.
- The Bad: While large, the explorable terrain is not as large as other games in the genre. No multiplayer.

Thief Trilogy
- The Good: Steal, sneak and steal some more.
- The Bad: You're not exactly Conan the Barbarian, if full-on melee is your game.

RPG

Freelancer
- The Good: Excellent mouse-based flight system with persistent worlds run by independent servers. No pay-to-play. Cheap (grab it from Wal-mart)
- The Bad: Aging.

Diablo II + DII: Lord of Destruction
- The Good: High-quality cinematics (for the time), active playerbase and free multiplayer on battle.net servers.
- The Bad: Addicting.

Strategy

Starcraft Battlechest
- The Good: If you want one of the most balanced RTS titles ever released, this is it. Decent campaigns and good multiplayer (with friends). Starcraft 2 pending release.
- The Bad: Aging graphics.

Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War Platinum Edition
- The Good: A stable engine, violent combat and excellent personality. The original game plus the two 'standalone' (those who tried to use space marines with Dark Crusade without having Dawn of War installed will understand what I mean) expansion packs. Active multiplayer. 'Dawn of War 2' pending.
- The Bad: Engine is showing first signs of age as-is.

Sim

Flight Simulator X
- The Good: Good graphics and real-world flight emulation.
- The Bad: Steep system requirements.

Sim City 4
- The Good: Rule your small town or metropolis with an iron fist...or a radioactive monster.
- The Bad: It's all socialist.
