I just got the newest Dream Theater CD, Systematic Chaos

it rocks, of course.  But I'm simply not able to rip it!  Is anyone else having the same problem?

musicmatch jukebox.  I hate iTunes, and I don't want to install it.

never mind, I'm a fool...for whatever reason musicmatch blows.  Windows Media Player worked.

+1 for me wasting your time reading this.

In any event, it's a good CD

Yeah, it is a good CD.  They did a good job with the studio mixing. I got the SE with the DVD and stuff. Very cool. Glad to hear you got it ripped. Whadya put it on? Or did you just burn it to the HD?

I rip it to my hard drive, and I have a Dell DJ Jukebox.  I'm waiting for that to die so that I can get an iPod.  I had the iPod kit installed when i got a new head unit/speakers in my truck, but this damn Dellpod is hanging in there longer than I hoped! lol

I never bother to rip my CD:s. I find it faster to download a copy instead. And IMO, that's not illegal at all, since I've bought the album in the first place, right?

It actually isn't illegal, the whole reason P2P doesn't get shut down is because in the EULA it says you're agreeing to only download files you already own to use as a backup

I recommend Creative Vision Zen M. I got the 30 GB. I have 80+ CD's on it and it only takes up a few gigs. Now, I have it at the low setting for playback (128 kbps) just to conserve space. I have to use a tape adapter in the car but I can barely tell the diff.  The Zen M also plays videos and has some other neat features. Overall, I am very happy with the price for performance. It also works with WMP 11. I mention all this cause you said you hate iTunes. I have not got into the whole download thing. I have gotten a lot more selective than I used to be. Happy hunting!
