Im wondering if a monitor with 5 ms and 2 ms is a big jump when it comes to gaming. Im looking into the samsung 206bw and 226bw series and im just wondering if the price difference is worth it for a 2 ms compared to a 5 ms/

You won't notice the difference. Also 5ms panels are often better than 2ms ones, since such low response times can only typically be achieved on lower quality TN based panels, which handle colour reproduction poorly.
Below 8ms is fine.

Technically there is a difference but if you can not get quality with performance then its not worth it.

Generally I tend to say below 16ms, but it REALLY depends on the contrast and brightness of the monitor (those being a generally good sign of decent quality). If you have a good one with totally black-to-white (or whatever it's called) I'd hate to have a 2 ms because of the inability to handle colors. But on a dirt cheap monitor with poor contrast and brightness and a black that's basically gray, I couldn't give a ****.
IMO spend a little more money on getting a screen with good color reproduction, and a black that's actually BLACK. It does WONDERS for your eyes, and brings out the "luster" in many pictures.
