Hey, I saw someones computer pictures on here and noticed they had RAM in the slots right next to eachother, and someone said that's the wrong setup for RAM. Is dual-channel supposed to be in the same color slots? I've never done it that way, and maybe that would help. :x
Yes, it should be in the same coulour slots for dual channel.
Each motherboard is different you will need to check to see what slots they need to go in to run dual channel, on my DFI board i need to have a stick in each colour to run dual channel

It was probably one of my pictures - but I did type how I know in that particular picture they are in the wrong slots. They are meant to be in the same colour.
A simple way to find out is to actually read your motherboard manual!
Why does no one ever read the manuals.......?

Because it requires though and time, so many people don't bother, especially i find people who have experience in it or think they do. I read mine though, as it was the first pc i built and i didn't want to screw it up.
I would, but... I don't have mine... I got OEMBertster7 wrote:

Manuals are for nerds,
But seriously i know my teacher at school is a nerd because he enjoys reading his car manual. Plus he teaches physics at a level.

On my DFI SLI 939 I have 4 slots, to run Dual Channel, I have to put it in slot 1 and 3, same on my ASRock DUALSATA 939
if you are not sure, you could also try it with different settings. on startup, it will show you, if it is dc or not.
Reading the manuals cover to cover is for nerds.Mr.Surgeons wrote:

Using it as reference when you have problems or don't know how to do something is just plain common sense - it's amazing how few people seem to have any of that,
I read the manuals (not all of it though), however I still haven't gotten my motherboard, so I was just asking.
Well, in that case. Which MB are you getting?maestrium wrote:

It's an ASUS P5N32-E.
For an Asus it'll be the same colour slots.
Here's the memory listings from the manual if you want to check for yourself.

Thanks, I was trying to find the online manual but couldn't find it. :\
Yeah, if you own an ASUS board then it'll be the same slots, normally they are:
1 - 3
2 - 4
1 - 3
2 - 4
