I want to spend about £20 ($40) on a mouse, as my current one keeps double clicking when I single click (which is surprisingly annoying). Preferably I'd like a corded, optical or laser mouse. Any suggestions, please?

There's nothing particuarly special for that price range, you'll just get a generic Logitech or Microsoft mouse.

You can get a Razer Pro Click V1.6 for about £30 and for about £38 you can get a Microsoft Habu one.

Anyone know what the MX400 is like? I think that's around £20.

I'd go with that one, it is about $40 US.

The basic microsoft wired laser mouse is around $20 and suprisingly, ive slammed it so many times but it keeps on clicking flawlessly. Im very impressed with it. It's the Microsoft Laser Mouse 6000 v1.0

Yeah I got that decent mouse, 5 buttons you can program one of them to the precision booster which lowers the sensitivity for sniping and stuff.
The paint does come off it after a bit though it looks cool when it does.
