You need to put the SATA drivers on a floppy and install them first.
When it asks if you want to install a third party SCSI or RAID, press the appropriate button.
What? If he can't see anything hows he going to do that anyway?

Are you using XP on the new rig?
Vista.

This sucks. CN117 just told me it might be my mobo. And that'd mean I'd have wasted 4 hours of work.

Wow.

And yeah, I figured I'd be able to see something, but there's no signal whatsoever.
Vista has all the drivers that you need so thats not a problem.

Didn't James@alienware have exactly the same problem with not being able to get a picture?

Whats the mobo you're using again?

Have you tried just using one stick of memory?

Just did right now. Nothin'. Used both sticks in just one slot, nothing for both, so it can't be the RAM.

Sounds like CPU or Mobo then. Not good.

If you can get your hands on a different CPU to test in it, that'd be good.

Don't think I can.

Just adding on: There's a blue, green and orange light on. Shouldn't that mean something? That it's not the mobo and maybe just the processor?

Should say something about that in the manual, haven't they replaced the beeps with LED's on some boards now?

I did. It works fine.

What do I do once I get everything hooked up? Install the drivers? How?

So confused. D:
This was the last post I read, that's what I was answering.

I didn't see no monitor

Thats why reading the thread you're posting in is usually quite helpful

Ok, contacted EVGA.

I just don't see how the whole mobo could be not working, and even the processor when it's giving off a lot of heat. And when it overheated my comp shut down so that must be a good sign the processor's fine.

Nope, I've got one of those boards. The lights aren't for that. There's a little error code panel for that - what does that say? Might shed some light. It should say FF, I think.

BTW, if the CPU is giving off heat, all that means is that it's getting power through it.

Where's the error code panel located?

By the battery, in line with the bottom PCI-e slot.

WTF

Try reading the manual first, most decent mobo's are self diagnosing and have some form of output (either LED's or beeps) to let you know what the problem is

If I did that, don't you think I wouldn't be here?

The manual mentions nothing of the LEDs.

Also, bertster - I don't see any LCD panel. I guess mine doesn't have one.

Opps. My mistake, yours is the LT version and doesn't have it. Unfortunate really, it could've been handy.
Does it make any funny beeps when booting? Often for CPU/RAM errors they don't but for GPU errors they almost always do (I doubt that's your problem though, CPU or Mobo is my bet).

No beeps. I don't think this thing has an onboard speaker unfortunately.

Woulda helped.

When I power on the PSU, a blue light shows. When I power on the computer, the green and orange lights turn on.

This is so frustrating.

Did you remember to ground yourself when you installed the CPU?  (Did you remember to go barefoot on a non-conductive surface or use a rubber wrist strap, and did you install it while standing/sitting on carpet with rubber soles?)

Static will fry a CPU.

On a side note, my comp beeps every time it starts up - a short, loud beep.  However, if I turn it off through the on button during a crash, then immediately start it up again, it emits a longer, louder series of beeps (like 3 in a row), then consequently fails to start.  Does this mean anything?

That's sooooo over the top. All you have to do is take a bit of care.

Yeah, I never held it by anything but the sides.

I'm pretty confident it's not my CPU or Mobo tbh. Just doesn't make any sense. It's gotta be something with the video card.

I doubt it. I really doubt it.

Everyone always thinks it's the video card, it very rarely is.
