This is THE ULTIMATE PC - $10,000USD

Ok, so i was bored and decided to go to NZ's best pc supplier and customize the best gaming rig out there at a grand total of $12,823 NZD (about $10,000 USD)

Before I start the list I'd like to point out a few explanations for choices in components I have made:

* Nvidia = Win, ATI = Fail
* DualCore > QuadCore (I hear that tests show DC to be faster)
* These Components are the best brands available in NZ
* Yes I know you can add more HDD's, Blu ray drives etc...
* Yes watercooling would probably work better, but this pc is based on stock speeds, therefore Watercooling is not needed as it wont be OC'd
* Of course you could get a bigger screen...you can always get a bigger screen, but lets not get carried away now. 22" is about the maximum size the human eyes can see all at once whilst sitting at a desk.
* No 8GB of RAM is not neccessary...not for anything yet anyways
* All prices are in NZD
* Floppy will never die!!! 1.44MB FTW!!!111

*And yes unfortunately this PC will be obsolete soon as Intel is currently researching 80 core, (yes thats an 8 with a 0) processors, and Nvidia is about to release its new GPU's; the 8900, the 8950 etc.

p35 is a better chipset than 680i too many issues! as for the physix card thats almost usless only a hand full of games support it and it doesnt even give that good of a boost.

Bah!

For SLI the 680i is way better than the P35, otherwise it's pretty tight - then it really depends on the individual board. The very first 680i boards had a few issues, which were fixed within about a week of launch with patches.

That PC is a complete and absolute rip-off.

Also why the hell would you get a PC like that and then get a lowish res 22" monitor - what were you thinking? 24" absolute minimum.

I have no idea how much a new zealand dollar is.. but judging from the $20 for a sony floppy, I'd assume about 2.5-3 NZD to a USD ?
That's still an expensive rig, and totally not worth it unless you just wona couple of mil in the lottery, or you're rich (like nation rich, not just bill gates rich, even gates wouldn't waste cash like this)

With that said..... Your PSU is sadly underpowered for this task. In fact, you may even want a dual PC case so you can plug in an extra PSU to handle the 3 GPUs alone.

Bertster7 im not putting down 680i, I know you can flash bios updates and get awsome preformance, im just saying its older technology than p35 and im not sure but last I herd there wasnt a 680i ddr3 board out yet either

I don't know, there might be. DDR3 is not a technology I would consider investing in yet - it's a bad idea.

I haven't had the opportunity to play around with a P35 yet, so I can't comment on that from personal experience. I have used 680i and P965 boards extensively and much prefer the 680i - even before you bring SLI into the equation.

Not that the P965 isn't a great chipset, I certainly prefer it to the P975x - but ultimately when it comes down to it, the 680i performs better than either of those. The P35, I'm not so sure and I'm keen to get my hands on one.

In any case, this is a SLI system, using an immense amount of PCI-e bandwidth, which is an area in which the 680i is unsurpassed. There is no doubt in my mind that the 680i is the best choice of board for this system (although perhaps not that particular model).
