Well up until this point, my 2 month old PC has been running great 'till now.

Just recently, since about a week ago, my PC randomly freezes while playing games.  It may occur within only a few seconds, minutes, or hours after loading a game. Regular PC usage is fine.

I've googled similar problems and have narrowed it down to hopefully just the PSU being faulty; and or faulty video card or mobo.

I believe the cooling is sufficent, as you'll see with screens provided, even during idle and full loads.

I haven't made any major system or application changes other than regular maintenance such as spy/adware cleaning and defragging.

Also I have not done any overclocking.

--Some troubleshooting I've done so far:

Uninstall/Reinstall Video Drivers- Also cleaned out registries with Drive Cleaner Pro
-158.22 Forceware drivers
-162.15 Beta Forceware drivers

Uninstall/Reinstall Audio Drivers
Reinstall Dx9
Uninstall/Reinstall Chipset Drivers
Flash bios from NF68_P28 to NF68_P29
Cranked up case, GPU and CPU fan speeds
Virus Scans, check disk...

Specs are:

Case- Antec, Nine Hundred
PSU- OCZ GameXStream 700w
CPU- Intel c2d E6600
Mobo- Evga 122-ck-NF63-TR NF680i
Memory- Crucial Ballistix Tracer 2GB PC2 8500
Video- Evga 8800gts 640mb
Sound- X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro
HDDS- x2 Raptor 74gb in raid 0
Backup HHD- Maxtor 120gb

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated; as for my last resort, I'm a lil hesitant in doing a format- just time consuming

I had a similar problem with bf2 freezing for no apparant reason. Never did figure out what was wrong with it. I upgraded the RAM. I upgraded the PSU. I upgraded the HDD(s). I did a full re-install of everything. Somewhere in amongst doing all that it appears to have fixed the problem (so far) - but without me knowing which part fixed it - I think it may have been the PSU upgrade - but I'm not sure.

it might also be your cooling, overheated cpu's tend to freeze the computer

Doesn't look that way. Although the Nvidia monitoring tool is a bit crap and does lie about temps a bit.

well, does it just freeze on 3d apps or on any time the cpu is taking a lot of clock times?

He really doesn't need to, he's running it underclocked.

On a side note - why are you running PC8500 memory at 800MHz?

I think that mobo only supports PC26400.

Officially. Doesn't mean you can't clock it a whole load higher.

I know, I've got one.

I used to have this. It only used to happen when I used my video card, then it even happened when using onboard. I think for me it was a mixture of PSU and CPU temperatures, the PSU i couldn't fix (mATX case ) so i cleaned out the dust from everything, and then I did some hardcore virus cleaning. Aswell as keeping the case open. Less freezing for me.

I need to get a can of air and just blow some of that shit out of the heatsink though, to really get it finished once and for all. Perhaps get a new PSU but i'm not sure if an ATX one will fit.

I've changed a memory setting in the bios under 'FSB & Memory Config' > 'SLI-Ready Memory' From CPUOC Max to disabled.

Before that I believe the Memory voltages were at 2.2v and speeds were @ 1068 Mhz

Right now I've currently minimized a few devices by unplugging my secondary hdd and dvd-rw drive.

Also I think flashing my bios might have fucked it up even more because I've had to clear out the cmos a couple of times due to an ACPI bsod error.

Thanks again for the help, I'll keep you posted with any more updates :>

Eh any 3d App.  It even froze on dxdiag a few times while running 'Test Direct Draw' and 'Test Direct3D'

So when I finally decided to format and reinstall windows, a new bsod error message came up right after selecting the raid drivers.  'PFN_LIST_CORRUPT' AWESOME!!  Google'd that and found that it may be memory related.  Sure enough after running memtest only for 5 minutes, not one, not two, but over 4000 errors! WOOT!

So I swapped out the mem-sticks to figure out which one went bad, tried different dimm slots, (however apparently a single stick of ram only works in one slot) ....attempted to reinstall windows with the non-defective  memory and everything seemed to work just fine.

Beforehand in attempt to figure out what the problem was, I had checked all my cables etc., turned on the pc and had one cable buzzing against the top exhaust fan, so my natural reaction was to quickly pull that cable away....which resulted in my finger getting cut and a broken fan blade!!

So now I'll have to get it RMA'd, reinstall windows...etc.

Karma for those who helped.

May I point out that I am quite happy right now. I have higher clock speeds than your 8800GTS. Yeeeee!

Well sure, but at stock it's only going to run at PC26400.
