Computer not booting!

Everytime I press power on, I get to the XP flash screen, then all of a sudden, the computer reboots and asks me what mode i would like to start it in. I've tried all the modes, but it keeps doing the same thing!

It's a laptop and it's a Sony Vaio.

i had that problem with my desktop, the PSU was fooked and had fried my RAM. run memtest for a few hours is all i can suggest

The last thing that i did before it satarted acting up was running windows disk cleanup.

hardware diagnostic tool. You let it run for about 6-8 hours and it checks your memory etc for physical problems, like when its fucked.

do you have a backup bootable disk ? if not you might have to format and reinstall if it wont let you start up in safe mode or any other mode

You should go into your BIOS and use the "Reset to factory default" feature. Sometimes shit can screw up your bios. Try it again after you set it to default. You'll see of a way, usually like F12 in Bios or something.

Nice laptop. Is it the same one out of Charlie's Angels and Swordfish? If so, my brother had the same one! I loved it. So sleek.

As for your problem, a BIOS reset or boot from CD seems most likely, to see if you can get in.

your PSU (Power Supply Unit ) has gone I'm about 90% sure of it

Edit I have same problem with myin I fried Hardrive u need a new HD
