Ok, so i use a Logitech Extreme 3D pro joystick, and sometimes when i join a server and start to fly, my plane constantly goes downward when i'm not moving it around, i can counteract this by moving my joystick of course, but it makes things REALLY hard to bomb as i have to work to not keep going down.

Other times my plane drifts to the right or left, especially when i take off.  I've tried to work on the dead zones, but that didn't help

is there any fix?

it's either one or the other, but most frequently it's the latter

I think it's your joystick, mine does the same (Logitech Attack 3) where it always tend to go right, like you I can counter it but makes flying harder...

you need to (re)calibrate your joystick.  It must have its neutral position set to downwards somehow.

You have to set the deadzones on your joystick.  I assume you've had it for a few months.  Go to the Profiler, click on whichever axis needs changing, and select "Properties".  From there, you can change the deadzones (meaning how much you have to move the joystick to make it react).  20% is good (I use that setting with the same joystick).

I have the same joystick and at times it pulls to the right on take off, but after i get off the ground i have no problem with it pulling in any direction.

Joystick's still good.

Primary on trigger, secondary on thumb, camera on hat, eject/parachute secondary stick buttons, afterburner/cm/chafe and commands on base buttons. Just make sure you have a swivel axis.

Keyboard and mouse, joystick for the chopper in bf2 is useless, yet some people like it better, but trust me your better off with mouse+keyboard

no, mouse is just not needed... keyboard only or a joystick (if that is your bag)...

This is a common problem for that joystick - if you search teh interntz you will find that there is a patch file for your joystick that corrects the decalibration drift issue. It happens after a few months of owning that particular joystick and is known problem.
