I have compiled a collection of tips for Karkand with the mind that it will increase player par overall, so that everyone will have mad skills. I have put this here to show that you CAN have tactics in Karkand, not just spray and pray.
Part 1: Protecting your bases from those who would sneak around the Hotel using the far right road (According to the US uncap.).
Ah, the Square. So peaceful, so serene, AND ABOUT TO BE OVERWHELMED BY PEOPLE WHO SNUCK AROUND THE HOTEL, UNLESS YOU DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! (The left is the most obvious approach, so get someone to watch your back for this.)
Notice this building:
This is road we will protect (The building with the red arrow will be used, the landing with the blue circle is our target.):
You, or you and a buddy, (To stay on the building and cover the square for you.) will climb the ladder at the back of the building.
Sprint straight at the target. Once you reach the edge of the building, jump, you should land on the target like so:
And Voila! Now it's time to own people who think they're James Bond or something!
Part 2: Defending the cement factory.
Snipers rejoice! You can now effectively defend a control point in a city! Snipers: Meh, what, one good position? Me: Not true! I counted 17 places to snipe from, meaning you can defend from all directions! Snipers: YAY!
Here is the battle-ground:
Notice this stairway lately?
Climb it and whoa! A whole hallway filled with windows to snipe from!
Like so:
There's balconies too!
Around the corner, there is a huge chimney. walk around it and... TA-DA! Another sniping perch!
And another balcony...
And yet another...
Back on the ground, Have you noticed THIS baby?
Climb it and... another perch!
Climb the ladder on it and you'll reach another...
This isn't a very good one, so you should just parachute onto the roof behind it. Crawl on your belly to the edge, look down, and... perfect!
Now from here, could hop onto the lower roof and snipe the people crossing the river form the train accident...
...or jump onto the top of the chimney and snipe from there.
Now right below this is a small causeway, which you can snipe from also. On it I found the strangest glitch I've ever seen: You can see straight through the chimney! (No, you can't shoot through it, so don't get any ideas!)
O.K., recap: 6 windows, 4 balconies, 1 perch behind the chimney, 1 stair landing, 1 ladder platform, 2 rooftops, 1 chimney, 1 causeway.
6+4+1+1+1+2+1+1=17! See, I told you!
Part 3: Defending the Factory.
In this place I found only 1 great place to defend from, (Snipers: Aw, man!) but it will help you defend against lots of enemies!
Here is the battle ground:
Notice how cramped it is? Luckily you can overcome this by using THIS building, right next to the flag!
Climb it and now you can stop whoever comes in this little death box!
To elaborate for this "lack" of places to defend from, an interesting note is that there are two towers that are very fun to jump off of, and there is also this glitch that I found. (Do you like the new MEC flag?)
Now I know what most of you are thinking: Where's the Square, or the Hotel, or all the other bases?
In answer to that question, I did not want to write about all the places people knew about already, my goal was to increase player par by showing you better ways to defend in Karkand. Thanks for reading my guide.
