dude, im sorry to hear that.

i have suffered from ear problems for the majority of my life. i was on swim team for 12 years and have paid for it ever since.
ive had NINE sets of tubes, and TWO mastoidectimies (im sure thats not how to spell it)....anyway, they cut my right ear off my head and rebuilt the ear drum.......im still deaf in that ear.

pain killers brother, preferably non-narcotic.
the chronic, and sometimes a heating pad.
good luck man, i truly understand the pain you are in.

MY Doctors told me that cleaning your ears is actually bad for you. They took a look in my ears and asked my if I use q-tips and they said that while it may look like you are cleaning them, you might ALSO be packing a part of the wax into the deeper part of your ears.

But as of right now, is the pain tolerable to NOT go to the Emergency Room? THAT is the question. Plus, DAMMIT MAN! a good excuse for legal meds!

oh I go, I just wanted to know if anyone had any good home tips as the ER is hellish.

I mixed white vinegar and rubbing alcohol 50/50 and dumped a few drops in my skull.

The shooting pains have mellowed.

i know someone who used this and it worked great... you light the ends and it sucks the wax out of your ear... it sounds weird but it works...
and there is a lot of nasty wax in the tube when your done...

Suburb ERs actually aren't too bad. I volunteer at one and our waiting room hardly ever has anyone in it. If you live close to a suburban hospital.. go for it.

Hmm... just don't get carried away with the more extreme 'home tips'. I would hate for your ears to be damaged resulting in you having hearing loss or getting tinnitus.

reminds me of the time I got gasoline in my ear. probably the worst prolonged pain i've ever experienced, the kind that makes you cross eyed. like someone slowly rotating a very long drill bit into my left ear until it starts masticating my brain. two day later that feeling was gone, and two months later the ringing was gone. happened over 3 years ago, and to this day when I smell gas, i can almost feel it boring into my brain again.

and when I went to the emergency room they looked into my ear and said, yep, you chemically burned everything in your ear, it might work when it heals, it might not. well have to see what kind of scar tissue developes. I could hear ok after a few weeks so I never went back.
