And all this happened over a period of 6000 years?? I dont think so....... Yes I believe with all my heart in Evolution (it kicks the shit out of the Subaru Imprezza over 1/4 mile )S.Lythberg wrote:
Actually, that is what my church teaches, God created through evolution, and the story is metaphorical.Turquoise wrote:
Yes, I know there have been previous threads on this topic, but this one focuses more on the compatibility of religion with evolution.
To those of you that are creationist, is it not possible that evolution is just a more precise way of explaining creation? Is the creation story a metaphor instead of literal truth?
Why wouldn't it be a metaphor?... Maybe God was the being that initiated evolution....
What do you guys think?
Basically, the order of events in the bible (big bang, planet created, seas formed, lesser animals, then humans last) does fit the current scientific chronology.
Obviously, the events did not take place in a peiod of 6 Earth days, but what is a day to God?
The book or what it is, around what age did it come out or how long was it? or was it published at the time when bible was popular like when jesus was born or so? Searched on Wiki but some idiot had changed a lot to rubbish on the page and searching on google gives no answer what so ever.Spark wrote:

Spark any idea when the book was released? Wiki pages has been flooded by idiots and rarely been a safe source of info.
Evolution, is what the intellegent man believes the answer to our "where did we come from" crisis is.Turquoise wrote:

Evolution, is backed up by many facts.
Evolution, is backed up by a lot of evidence, including dinosaur bones, old human bones that seem to be the missing links between us and apes.
Evolution, is a science. And should be treated as one.
Creation, Is what the scared man believes the answer to our "Where did we come from" crisis is.
Creation, has existed since the dawn of time. A good example is the Myans, or the Azteks. They believed in the sun god. Why? Because they had no science. And they wanted to know how stuff worked! So, they created a magical god and told people that the god was responsable for the sun moving, and you should be greatfull. Now, if you were to say this to someone nowadays, in a time with science, people would look at you like an idiot. This is the same thing going on here with the Christian god.
Creation, Has no facts backing it up, it is only accepted because it is taught from birth, and the only backup is many others believing too.
Creation, Has no evidence. Some might say the Bible is evidence. But it isn't. The bible is fiction, its a feelgood drug.
Creation, Is not a science. And it should not be taught in schools, because teaching it in schools is imposing your beliefs on poor kids who have yet to develope there own. This is, in my opinion, absolutly unacceptable, fact and science should be taught in school, not belief in something so astonishingly impossibly rediculous.
15 more years! 15 more years!
Are you asking for a date of publication for the Bible?Zukabazuka wrote:

Are you asking for a date of publication of "The Book Of Evogenesis?" If it is this one, Spark made it up. He was just being creative.

How widespread is creationism anyway? I have never encountered anyone who beyond the age of 5 would believe in it. Many of these posts make it sound like it is the main beilef among all Christian denominations, but I very much doubt that. Also, I have never had anyone attempt to teach it to me either. In school, we never came near to a discussion on Creationism v. Evolution even when reading the play Inherit the Wind. The closest we got to the beginning of life scientifically was in biology about those experiments attempting to create life (dammit I can't remember the name of this, but it had all sorts of gases that the Earth did back in the day and electricity and stuff----arghhh!) and spontaenous generation and whatnot.
Obviously you have not evolved enough to respect your creator
Let's try the simplest of facts: Man was created and is evolving - sometimes that's highly disputable considering the stupid shit we do.

Clearly some people believe this stuff.

Maybe you missed the point. Its that I dont know. Hence the question marks. I mean, it could be some deal like the end of Men in black. WHO THE HELL knows? I just dont see how any group of people could be completely certain how the universe was created.Fallschirmjager10 wrote:
And how did God get there?golgoj4 wrote:
Im on the fence with the whole god thing. Part of me says its BS when I see what religion brings via man, but when you look @ the universe and all the things that just magically 'work', that seems the most compelling evidence. Given that nothing is MAGIC and it all a matter of being able to perceive what going on, evolution almost seems like proof of god. True we understand it, but who the hell set it up? Whats the cosmic rule that kick started it?
To me, it just seems so much more compelling than 'Intelligent Design' theories i hear.
