OK Sharkbite this one is for you....

Man Packable Crew Served Weapons can add balance to the game. It can also provide a simpler "Infantry-like" opportunity to develop teamworking skills in a way that Air & Armor may not. Just like a tank, two dismounted soldiers can operate a Crew Served Weapon like a TOW or HMG to enhance the game experience.

Add a single spawnable, moveable, transportable TOW launcher per map that requires two people to move it. One carries the tripod the other carries the launcher. The tripod is setup then the launcher is added, for break down do it in reverse. The system gets 2 missiles without resupply. The soldiers can ride any vehicle while carrying the launcher system. Resupply in the normal ways. Once setup it requires only one soldier to operate it.

Now unfortunately it still requires team work to move it so Lone Wolves may still hate it even though it can usually take out a target in one shot (kill assist just like in a tank if both crewmen are present). If one soldier is killed his launcher piece can be grabbed for the same kit period, if it isn't grabbed up then the whole system respawns back at the base. On second thought Lone Wolves may never get their hands on the piece because the smart mech infantry squads will already have snapped it up.

Future screenshots will show a bunker of supply crates, launcher in the center and supply/med packs will litter the ground and the missile will fire unceasingly for 30 minutes. The engineer is prone with wrench in hand also.  And of course this will unbalance the game so HUMVEEs will need to be retrofitted with auto-grenade launchers. Tanks will then need to be uparmored again to compensate, jets will have another target to kill and a crew served weapon will be a sniper magnate. And the ubiquitous TKer TOW whore will emerge....and intentional TKing a crewmember should result in an automatic (if unforgiven) TKer suicide and respawn next to the commander for summary courts-martial proceedings and execution for noobness in the face of the enemy.   But wth lets go for it.

This same system can be done with a .50 cal HMG and pedestal mounted stingers.

Pros:
-Develops Team Skills and gets Sharkbite to stop posting tank whore threads.
-Damage/Kill assist is shared within the squad the crew is in within proximity as usuall.

Cons:
-IDK more programming and another patch?
-Sharkbite will be a tank whore by then and will start posting TOW whore messages?

What are your pros/cons/ideas/comments?

(i bet someone already thought of this and posted somewhere but i didn't see it yet - links appreciated ty)

The Humvee's with TOW's are better than this, and can be operated by one person. They're just not on every map, as they shouldn't be.

And sharkbite is a whiny little bitch who should be ignored anyway.

TOW HUMVEES in BF2??? I missed that map   lol

They are in SF maps, true. But still, they are there. I think that any good AT player could seriously beat a tank with a bit of skill.
Good to be back.

Guys you are off topic - this is a BF2 suggestion in a BF2 forum and i'm talkin about BF2 maps and the whole idea is teamwork not lone wolf in a HUMVEE lol !   SF is in the other table.

Think of the all the mischief a truck load of Light Infantry with a dismountable TOW could get into.

Ops, I agree with you. But 2 guys in a Humvee in SF could cause some serious havok.  I wish they had them in regular bf2.  I think the they are a lot better than AT rocket carried by AT's  and any one can use them.

ops chief.  i'm a big fan of ground defense.  i would absolutely love to see this idea introduced.  i don't quite understand the ammo part of the post however.

would one of the two infantry have to be engineer in order to set it up?
wouldn't a support infantry be able to resupply it?  (after all they can resupply armor units)

i can already see it now...a friend who loves to play support and i (engi/sniper) wreaking havoc upon people from a rooftop on mashtur city.

Oh I'm sorry, did I hurt your feelings when I called you a tank whore?  Truth hurts, doesn't it?

Trel:
I guess that was an inside joke between shark and me. This idea was my tank whore olive branch and a compromise between two extremes. He gets a tank killer and I get him to join squads all the time.

Turtle:
A TOW HUMVEE is awesome but I would still like to see some dismountable crew served weapons for all the reason stated before.

Wormguts:
Anyone would be able to set it up but it takes two to carry ad setup normally.

A single player could for example, setup the first part then grab the second part from a dead soldier and install it.

The Engineer could repair it like any other piece of equipment.

The Support can resupply it. It gets 2 rounds without resupply.

It will behave like any vehicle if left alone and unmanned.

You can parachute with it, air assault, boat whatever. Imagine a mech Squad in an APC with this baby and a couple of AT kits, resupply, engineer and medic. You could set a mad anti-armor ambush.

theres no such thing as a man portable tow missile launcher... thats just retarded.  maybe a weapons squad team.  240 gunner, assistant gunner, ammo bearer.

Dude we cant even get people to join squads lol, Remeber the AC130 Specter Gunship in DC ? it was the most deadly weapon system in the game but it took at least two people to run it well. I never was used at all.

Get a good squad in Mashtuur City in the blackhawk and see what havok you can rake up.  A really good squad in any map can rain hell on the enemy all day long.  Yesterday, we had a full 6 person squad in the blackhawk and no two people were from the same clan.  We had the best squad in the game, and 2 of the 3 stars when to our squad memebers.  Most of the other "stat" highlights went to our squad members.

I agree Roy lol, that is why this is called a Crew Served weapon. It takes a few people to haul it. And I bet the airborne and Light Infantry would disagree with you about your retarded comment.

The real idea after you think on it some - is the two people carrying the missile components ride to a place near the battle, dismount, setup in a good pos then amush the tank coming thru. They SHOULD have the rest of the tank killer squad (AT kits, support, medic, SF whatever) in the area to ensure complete destruction of the attacking armored forces.

Remember the point here is twofold, have infantry be able to kill a tank in usually one shot but to make teamwork and joining a squad a more desirable action for lone wolves.
