I just got a dynex DX-E401 4 port router to network my old computer with the new.  When I go to portforward.com to open the ports I get this message: "The DX-E401 will not allow you to forward enough ports, to run Battlefield 2. You should try using the DMZ portion of this router if it is available. Alternatively you can try switching the router to bridged mode. You will need to contact your ISP to switch to bridged mode, so they can make the required changed on their end."

I called the Dynex tech support, no help, they told me I could not open the ports with this router.    Does anyone know what I can do to make this work or can you point me to another "wired" router that will work.  Money is unfortunately a factor here.  I need to stay as cheap as possible, say under $100 u.s.

Thx,
Shifty

I think NETGEAR RP614 10/100Mbps Web Safe Router should suit your requirements - but I've not used that particular model, so I'm not 100% sure...

Thanks for the tip.  That is the one I went with.  Interestingly enough I had already gotten it before I made the post LOL.  I hope it will do the job, I'm sure it will.

I think so - I have the NetGear DG834G - it's slightly younger, slight better equiped brother - and it's ADSL rather than ethernet, but the configuration pages for it a very good - port forwarding is very simple to achieve.

Having said that, I must repeat the caveat I stated in my previous post - I've not used the RP614, so I can't be 100% certain that it will offer the same degree of configuration options as the DG834G, but from what I can gather, Netgear routers of a similar price are all very similar in terms of configuration options and the RP614 and the DG834G are in about the same price bracket.
