When you right click on the BF2 icon then go to properties, does the 'target:' bar contain the correct resolution settings. It could be, that you need to change the resolution in there, to the correct settings for your monitor. I had to do this because BF doesn't support widescreen. So yours _should_ work. Your monitor isn't widescreen then?
Check the maximum refresh speed (60-75Hz). You might need to un-install BF2 because then when you re-install, it will revert to running at 60Hz. Or plug in another monitor and take down the refresh rate in BF2!
delete all profiles. that should reset all your settings

If it is a widescreen monitor than you will have to force BF2 in widescreen.
Do you display properties reflect the correct monitor you now have?
