BF2S Forums Does Bf2 use any download usage?

It counts as your downloading when you play bf2 theres a post somewhere on a diff forum that tells you how much it uses per hour. btw i think i was playing bf2 with you last night lol.

It's about 36MB an hour on a 64 man map. I'll go find the source in a little while.

its around 60mb an hour on a full 64 player server with VOIP.

Depends on ur ISP. If ur ISP is Bigpond, then you dont get charged anything if u play on Gamearena servers, and the time
u spend on them doesnt count towards your traffic limit (might also "work" with other aussie servers, not sure tho (but i AM with
Bigpond and Gamearena.)
When I was living in NZ and playing on Xtra Servers (cos my ISP was Xtra), my traffic was on average 40GB+/month but I never got charged any extra for it.

yes it's between 40 and 60 MB/ hour. Believe me, with my downloadlimit I found it out the hard way.

Sure, anythintg that requires a connection to the internet uses download. You need to download the information from the server every millisecond. Thats what tells you if you get shot, or what you should see around the next corner, its pretty complex if you think of it and i bet it uses a lot of DL. But unless you have a limit, its all good.

What isp is that with and how much per month?

I was with BT business 'unlimited internet' but they kept capping me to 1/4mb between 6pm & midnight - most uk isp's advertise an unlimited service but hide behind a fair usage policy - which in reality means if you download more than 50Gb per month you get slapped down.

That's since I've been with them which is 22 days

When I was on BT Yahoo! it was unrestricted, they they bought in a usage cap of 30Gb and £1 per gig after that - they wrote to me and told me under the new system I'd have to pay £120 per month (£30 for 30Gb plus average £90 additional usage) - I checked their website and for £5 more I could get BT Business (which at the time was truly unrestricted - until they bought in a FUP to hide behind)

- Ironic thing was their traffic restrictions restricted all traffic to port 80 and known p2p ports so surfing was crawling speed, but you could get around it on p2p by changing your ports - they'd restrict that port after a few weeks so you just find a new one

NNTP traffic was totally unrestricted which was a huge chunk of my traffic

so basically without messing with proxies http traffic was the only thing that was scuppered.
