Allright here's the premise of the thread guys. I'm gonna ask what if a religion came about at a different time? Ok guys? Lets go!

1. What if Christianity came about in the 1500's?

2. What if Islam came about right now in modern times?

3. What if Judaism came about at the time of christianity?

4. What if Scientology came about at the time of Judaism?

5. What if Buddhism came about at the time of Islam?

Go ahead guys discuss.

Christianity grew out of Judaism, so Jews have to come first

Basically, i doubt religion would have gained so much popularity if it came about after modern science.

Pretty much... but then again, the human need for answers typically overrides the empirical discipline required for scientific analysis. As a result, religion will always exist and will often conflict with science.

Still... by the numbers...

1 would possibly mean that Christians would be blowing up buildings.

2 would mean that Islam would get made fun of and be of little consequence.

3 would mean that America would probably be mostly Jewish.

4 would mean that L. Ron Hubbard would be fucking old, but many of our best entertainers would follow his religion.

5 is the weird one... I guess that would mean that most of East Asia would be Buddhist instead of Muslim.

OH, OK, I see what you mean now. But I don't think that's what David meant.

If you're talking by hill standards, "about at the time" could be a 2000 year difference. By human standards, there's fewer ways to read that.
