Just wondering why they gave the PLA an actuall Ak47, opposed to a Type 56. Anyone know if the real PLA uses actual Ak47s?

I typed in Type 56 into Google (wasn't sure what that Rifle was) and it came up with this BF2 Render... but in the URL it's called an AK-47: http://files.ea.com/downloads/eagames/o … s/ak47.jpg

Oh this is even more priceless I looked more at the URL and notice it says Mec/Weapons/AK47

And wheres the Hovercraft? And wheres that... lol jeez the game is nothing like they say.

The Type56 is basically the AK47 though the model is rendered incorrectly (probably to save questions and arguments).

The Type56 is in all essence a Chinese made AK47 but CNC'd out of metal instead of stamped and it has a fixed folding bayonet as opposed to a removable one.

The model fails to display that bayonet because it would probably just generate questions like.. HOW DO WE USE IT???? If we cant use it why is it on there?!?!?!?

Yeah that's true about the type 56's but back in the late 60's and early 70's in Israel/Palestine, you'd see a lot of straight up AK47 back when they were nice and new. Nobody world wide used the M16A1 at all. I think now every dinky little third world country produces their own version of the Kalishnakov (sp?).

There are thouands of licensed (and unlicensed ) copys of the AK47. I just though since china made their own that they'd probably use it, oppoised to an actual ak47.

for the most part the gun is correct, just the name is not right.  I think they might have done that becuase everyone knows what an ak47 is.

Then again, i had never heard of an ak101 before battlefield 2.   I i really doubt that the MEC use an ak101, pretty sure they use an ak47, or some variation really close that still shots the 7.62 .

The game is only realistic to a small extent, "game" the operative word here.  Stay focused on that fact and have FUN!!

Anybody know how much it would cost to get a licence from a weapons manufacturer to put their gun in a game by chance? I'll bet it's a lot. That's if they even would do it for any price.

In as far as licencing issues, I think the Weapons Manufacturer would be happy to let them put their guns in the game. Exposure! Then there is Airsoft....ah yes, international Copyrights have NO meaning in the Asian market.
Like, for instance, my Tokyo Marui G36C, has all the H&K markings on it. This is a BIG no no over here, but as I said, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan...'Copyright? Of course we copied it right! Very detailed! See?'

sorry, bud.. have to say something about this.. (not a flame, so dont get mad)..as i feel the need to correct a misconception about Asian nations.

where i live, the country signed up to an FTA (Free Trade Agreement) with the USofA. Part of that deal involves the implementation of The Copyright Act, The Registered Designs Act, Layout-Designs of Integrated Circuits Act which basically makes it a serious offence to use fakes, including illegal DVDs, CDs, etc etc. and protects intellectual property. In fact, there is an association of which Microsoft and Adobe has a share in called the BSA that hands out an monetary incentive to anyone who rats on their employer for using illegal software. So the fight against fakes is being actively carried out where I lived. Granted that if you go to some other countries in Asia, you can buy fake Rolex and Tag Heuer watches but imho, that will eventually dwindle once there is a trade incentive thrown in like the FTA.

I know that this thread is about weapons and licensing..but i just wanted to correct a small misconception. Not everyone in Asia necessarily supports sales of fakes. Heck, i have seen tourists buying these "fakes", so they are also compounding the problem. As long as there is a demand, there is a supply..simple law of economics in the free market.

btw, fake BF2 software users cant play online..the CD key wont work.

@Schuss..if you are reading this..man, where is that "serious stuff" section of the forums when you need it.. this response is so out of place here

hope it was as neutral as i can get it.. As they say in the Olympics, let the flames begin

illegal copies..cracked version that costs about USD5 a piece. One can play single player on it, but wont work for mulitplayer, and patches wont install either.

Hmm, the only "fake stuff" (in your wording) that I've ever seen was all real, a real installer, and a real cd key. Though the cdkey may not pass EA's cdkey check, this dont make it fake

All it takes is one person that can get their hands on even 1/10th of the CD Keys in the Database from BF2 and suddenly you have someone who can sell quite a few keys very cheap for "cracked" versions of the game with CD-Keys that will allow Multiplayer Online. Just a matter of time and a matter of internal EA security.

Just want to make a quick reponse on this. Sorry, off topic some more, but...yeah. Mike, those are good points *P.S. where do you live?* My mentioning of the international copyrights wasn't so much geared towards the knockoffs, even though there is a vast piracy enterprise throughout asia *Revo-Styler hair thingy story, long, complicated, drawn out and a pain in the butt* My post was specifically in the sense that Airsoft weapons, when brought over to the US, or manufactured here cannot bear the markings of their real steel counterparts. However, in the Asian *and European* markets, they are fully allowed.

Either way, no offense taken man. Now if you had gone off and called me a poo-head, I'd have been sad.

Man, don't we all simply love wiki? For a non-government -influenced-write-up read this...ok, i've done my bit for tourism, i should really stfu after this
