Riding a bike

hey, i was wondering..
My father rides a motorcycle and always said that i would be able learn how to ride a motorcycle really fast because that skill of quick learning with vehicles was ''in the family'' or something.
And recently I've bought a moped (you have to clutch with it just like a motorcycle) and I've learned how to clutch and ride with it and i can now say i control the technique of riding such a thing in a couple of days..
But, my question was.. can such skills really be in the family or not?

(it's a Yamaha TZR50 btw )

lol no. The love for driving can be inherited by living with the people all your life, but im sure it cant genetically be inherited

I learned how to ride a motorcycle on a little 125cc provided by the State.

After getting my license I jumped on the new H-D 1200 Sportster I bought.

Made it about 2 blocks before I laid it down.

I beg to differ, much of my family have been involved with motors since a young age, and I feel that I have inherited at least some skill.

I ride a motorbike, and also know how to drive a car and a tractor. I'm 14

So I do believe you will have a bit of skill that you acquired from the family

Yeh, if it weren't for you family's interest/passion in motorcycles you would never have gotton interested in them, Besides, having a family member who's got experiance in something can make it alot easier for you to learn.
Ive learnt a heap of handy stuff from my old man - etc. welding, boating, general tools, and yes, motorbikes (YZ 125)

Genetics isnt fully understood, its possible.

But most likely its environmental influences. If you're around motorbikes and thier riders, you're going to be better than someone who hasnt.

certain skills can be in the family, such as a good sense of balance, reaction times, in terms of genetics. But more-so is the culture and behavioural characteristics your parents will breed into you when raising you that may make you more sensible or fitted to riding a bike.
Also if you have been raised around them you are more likely to have an interest in them.
In the same way none of my parents follow football (soccer) and so none of my borhers or sisters or I are interested in it.
