I think the mindset of "I just joined for the educational opportunities" or "I miss my remote, wife, kids, girlfriend, whatever so I can't do this anymore" needs to go, we all miss things when we are deployed. The last time I checked it is still a voluntary military, if someone has a hard time staying true to an oath they are going to take.. DON'T FUCKING JOIN.Mekstizzle wrote:
I probably wouldn't be able to handle war (Actually i don't know, but I probably wouldn't like it and nobody in my family would let me anyway) - So i know my limits. If you can't do it than don't, and leave it to the guys who can. I think the mindset of "anyone can join the military" needs to go.

Wouldn't surprise me. All you need is a politician running for re-election and who is against the war, and you can do whatever you want to.Braddock wrote:
If you have second thoughts in the US army are you allowed to quit without being severely punished?
I think that up to 120 days a service member can seek an administrative separation, which is like not having been there at all and you can try again after 90 days or something like that. only problem is that after 120 days you really still don't know what the real military is about.Braddock wrote:

Surely someone should be allowed to quit if they don't have the right stuff, why force someone to do the job if their heart isn't in it? I wouldn't want someone like that beside me in battle.agwood wrote:

maybe when you gotta worry about pissing off a dirty, dusty, sweaty grunt after you tell him he cant eat in the mess hall because his uniform is too dirty. that fucker had the nerve to try to keep me from eating my meal in peace after I just got back from 14 hours outside the wire. I sat right next to that fucker and ate and he didnt say shit.Mekstizzle wrote:
