I have browsed my way through wiki, but just wanted some personal opinions on the SF Engineer Unlock. Is the MP7 better than any shotguns? Perhaps it does but requires different tactics?
I have gotten some lovely kill streaks with the good ol’ US and chinese bf2 basic shotty’s so should I unlock it?

I prefer the shotguns myself.

They MUCH more power at close range. The mp7 is really only better than the shotguns at medium range, but its not woorth it imo

your best bet is to go to game monitor and type "unlocks" into the server name section and try find a server with global unlocks, then grab a mate and go test all the weapons you want.

Yes, I like it a lot. It's got a high rate of fire and it's pretty accurate.

yea it rocks and if im right the patch will make it have 30 rounds instead of 20

They're updating the power and accuracy of it in the new patch. I reckon it would be worth it, even if just for the cool rapid-fire sound it makes. Also, if you're an accuracy buff like me, you can use it to increase your Engineer accuracy, as it is more accurate in mid range.

yea, but less damage next patch. MP7 sucks, pump rules 1 shot kill.

It's a good unlock, if only because it provides variety to the class. Most unlocks are pretty similar to the original guns, but the MP7 is totally different to the shotguns.

So if you reckon you'll need to fight in medium range choose the MP7 before you spawn, if you think that close-combat is more likely choose the shotgun.

as of right now id say it isnt worth it. only 20 rounds and does less damage then the g3. although when the patch comes out (knowing ea it will probably be 2 more months) this gun may become a bit better then what it is now. so is it worth it? right now i say no.

A very good point- it does give the engineer a new tactical ranged abilties, handy for defending yourself in more open areas.

The MP7 is extremely accurate on semi, probably because it's based on pistol design a little bit.

Yup, it's nice just for variety's sake. I like it, but there are some maps where the shotguns are usually more effective.

It can completely change the way you play while in your hands, and gives you some more strengths in open terrain and on certain wide open maps where the shotguns aren't so useful. And it makes an undeniably enjoyable buzzsaw sound.

I love it , i just hope they dont gimp it too bad in the patch. Shottys are great if you are close enough to smell their breath but other than that MP7 is the only weapon that gives engineers a fighting chance.
