Cheers Zero +1 - i've heard that the Type M is the same hardware as the Type R minus the packaging and modular cabling ... not sure though

the type r is just cable management

you can plug in as many or as few cables as you wish,

it looks good though, its all stainless steel and modular cables.

Modular is the word you are looking for

Mine died on me unexpectedly when I loaded up BF2: Sandbox lol. I have it right here beside me and I've been fiddling with it, but it appears to be completely dead.

is modular really that much of an advantage?

Yes. Especially in a P180/2. Even if not in that case, it is really, really handy!

What about this?
http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/127861/rb/0

It's a tiny bit cheaper and 600watt.

+3.3V(36A), +5V(30A), +12V1(18A), +12V2(18A), +12V3(18A), +12V4(18A)

It's your choice what you buy, but I don't think 600w is too big.
Any time you want to upgrade something you would be able to, no problems.

Did you see the 3 year guarantee?

unless you don't pay the power bill and are liable for computer confiscation if it goes up too much ... that's my only worry about size - the dreaded parents!!

I know what you're saying about bills.
I haven't noticed a difference in mine going from 350w to 580w, and I pay the bills

The 100w difference is one light bulb, play with a small lamp instead
Seriously, you won't notice 100watts for a few hours a day.
It's probably about £20 a year

Its not about watatge for graphics card, more about amperage on your 12v rails.  For a 7900 it recoomends 22a on your 12v rail,my 500w pumps out 30a(Rosewill 500w).  Higher wattages are worthless if they cant pump out the nesscary amperage, but in general higher wattage=higher amperage.

Id go with the Enermax personally, mostly because I can tell how many amps its pushin out, and the hiper is only giving you 28 amps max, while the Enermax gives 30a max.  The only real reason people upgrade PSUs anymore is for a new graphics card, most systems will never exceed the need of a 350w PSU with onboard graphics/crappy graphics cards.

k guys update time!

99% sure i'm gonna go with the 600W OCZ PSU - i also realised my DVD-RW is an IDE so i'm gonna get one of those SATA ones too (for like £20) ... looking inside my case yesterday .... PSU should be pretty simple to fit

Sounds good. OCZ is always good with PSU's and RAM.
