How long were you there for?
Where did you go for basic? Sanitary conditions were deplorable a few years ago at Great Lakes.ssj3barua wrote:

"Welcome to basic. Make sure you wear your scarf and never wash it. Feel free to trade it around with your buddies. Oh, that recruit we're escorting out after three weeks, his heart condition preceded his entry into the Navy..."
Of course, you may not be able to answer right now.

I am at Great lakes RTC, I've been here 8 weeks. I ran Battle stations 21 on Thursday night and I graduate next Friday. right now I'm in what they call "Recruit Heaven". Your right unnamednewbie13 sanitary conditions are deplorable, but you kinda get used to it.

Yeah. It's hit and miss whether you get through or come down with some nasty bloodsucking disease. It's probably better now than it was, though.ssj3barua wrote:

Awww come on guys, great lakes wasn't that bad? Or maybe its just the memory fading...I went during the summer, god knows it was fracking hot enough. I mean, stomach flu isn't serious right?

For me, sub school sucked more. It was in Rotten Groton, Ct and being from LA, winter sucked.

You going to be a sailor, or the Navy's Soldiers (not the marines, but the Navy deploys Sailor-Soldiers in Iraq as well).
What's your day job?

Man, USMC bootcamp does not permit any contact with the outside world other than mail, or in case of emergencies, phone. We weren't allowed on the computers... I don't think there were any. But anyway, congratulations on almost making it. I'll congratulate you again when you actually graduate.
