I think the wood was 2 big at the begining and we did not had enaugh papers or twigs to make it start...

Bro. We need to make a fire. Like at Floyd Bennett Field or something. You can use lighter fluid and I'll just use wood, and we'll see whose fire lasts longer. The loser has to stay by the fires when the cops come, and the winner gets to run away.

a fire burns hottest pulling air in from the bottom and up through the flame (remember hot air rises).

that's why Charcoal grills have vents on the bottom.

That's also why the Teepee type fires burn the easiest.

Tip - next time try burning some rubber. It burns slow and hot, you just need to worry about the fumes/smell. In my tramping/hunting/rock climbing emergency kit I always take some rubber with me. It burns even when it's wet too.
