Why do I say this...because many, many Asian countries are facing Islamic militants and terrorists. So what do you blame there....the American obsession with rice? Or maybe the women? Seriously...the radical Islamic movement is global and growing regardless of what America is doing in the middle east!!!! It is a growing war of Ideology...plain and simple. Oil has as much to do with it as rice does.
I agree with you, but then again, why are they targetting the Western world, especially the US? Maybe it's because the West (UK mostly in the past and US nowadays) keeps interfering with the ME, so these terrorist regard them as an enemy. I don't see them targetting South American or African countries (they did atttack the Western representations in these countries but not the interests or assets of these countries).
Did they shout 'death to America' in the streets in the 50's? No. The hate for the US was and is the direct result of the American policy in the recent past (1960+), your unconditional backing up of Israel, your help of local regimes that only favor yourself (Iraq in the past, Saudi Arabia nowadays, etc.).
