Jimmy Carter is the worst, He marks the beginning of the pussification of America and the modern liberal appeasement movement.
How the hell does Clinton end up at #9???? Damn, that asshole just walks between the raindrops.Turquoise wrote:

Who did Carter appease exactly? No honestly I'm unfamiliar with his term in office.lowing wrote:

Clinton would rank lower in my list if he hadn't been somewhat liberal in his social stances. Economically, he basically played the Republican game better than they did. He was a corporate shill of a Democrat, but some of that managed to help the working class.D6717C wrote:

So honestly, I find it funny that so many Republicans hate him. He was the closest president to being a Republican that the Democrats have ever had in office. You guys should love this guy -- same with Hillary.
I prefer presidents like FDR, Truman, and Eisenhower, because they represented administrations that at least did a better job of pretending to serve the working class. Nowadays, lobbyists blatantly run the show.
Tough call between Carter and Nixon.
I'm not assigning all this to Carter but it is important to see the big picture. Events during his time in office.

The 70s were a great decade for music, but government sucked ass then. Our foreign policy blunders were starting to catch up with us.
The hostage crisis in Iran should have been a sign for America to stay the fuck out of the Middle East after that.

Nixon by far. Politics was fragile at that time due to Johnson and the war ... Nixon looked like a recovery, but turned out to be what so many feared.sergeriver wrote:

National politics has never been the same since Nixon. Few now trust government leaders - why do you think the smear tactics are so popular and easy to sell in America - few give them respect, and as a result we get crap candidates now for the Presidency.
How many people remember the Clinton years? How old were you?

Cuba, Iran, Islamic fundamentalists as a whole, Soviet Union and their military build up while letting the US's go to hell in a handbasket. Basically cowered to everyone because he didn't want any confrontations and by God he succeeded in that mission.CameronPoe wrote:

I was doing quite well. If I had graduated from college just a year or two earlier, I'd probably have a better job today.usmarine2005 wrote:

Regardless, Clinton and the Republican Congress did some damage in the 90s that (like most other administrations) didn't fully reveal itself until a few years later.
By the same token, the first Bush deserves credit for successfully cleaning up some of Reagan's messes, which led to the economic jumpstart we saw in the early 90s.
Nixon was probably the worst. But GWB has done his best to snatch first place. My guess is we'll know who to throne as worst in a few years when if certain shit come to light...
I remember. Back then I thought his presidency was disastrous. And it probably was... but comparison with George seems to make Clinton's mistakes sort of insignificant...usmarine2005 wrote:

Are you suggesting Clinton was the worst? Supposing people here are too young, even a 15 years old could pick Bush instead of him.usmarine2005 wrote:

I think that's the problem with judging recent presidents. We lack historical context. We can offer our personal feelings, but the effects of an administration can be evaluated for many years after they leave office.sergeriver wrote:

LBJ.
The fucker escalated the Vietnam War right after Kennedy was murdered. Convenient how Kennedy was trying to pull out and no one liked it so he got assassinated.
Bush isn't too far behind though
