At the very least the squad leaders should be able to talk to each other

@Horseman 77

Nice idea I like it.  A little more brainstorming is still needed.

In fact I really think it should be for the next game BF2: Team of Teams.  Shifting from a single player reward perspective to a team reward will lose people. Giving anyone real power over another in this game is a formula for lost profits.

In BF2: Team of Teams your ideas can be built in from the start.  There needs to be combat radius for the squad/team points to accumulate. Missions that force a squad to cap a flag not just 4 wandering loners could put teeth into your idea. Your team points could gradually reduce for the time over x minutes in a game you spend outside squads.

Perpetual squads would be awesome. Same people playing in the same squad get squad stats and that will seduce the stat farmers to BF2:TOT

People who hate squads can just not buy the BF2:TOT upgrade. But the rest of us.....

more brainstorming later....

The commander should be able to open sqauds and ask for volunteers.  The commander has no control over the composition and thus the purpose of his squads. Its a very ad hock system.  The commander needs a way, at the begining of the battle, to say ok guys this is how I think we should do it. THEN everybody can ignore their orders and wander off.  But right now hes lucky if he gets two or three good squads and as I said he has no control over what those squads specialize in or like to do.

Very nice write up.  EA does troll forums, lets hope they see this one.

EA's Genius with the Award System. or " My Epiphany" It makes you become a better team player.

      Most people pretty much do their own thing and ignore teammates. They drive off in empty vehicles while three guys are calling for pickups etc, We have all seen this . But a guy going for an Award or Badge . Holysiht !  He's tossing medic bags or ammo or following your vehicle with his wrench out.
A guy going For his Medic Badge stays with a group, dispensing health bags and giving revives. The same with support or Repair. If he notices some one in that kit with the group already doing the same, he will usually seek out a group who lacks his kit. He can usually be found desperately seeking knowledge on how to further polish his craft. In effect he becomes a better player, a better team player and an asset to the people near him.

Further improvements on this line could be.

    To encourage people to join squads, It should be slightly easier to accumulate points while in a squad. For example maybe if you get four points you'd  get an additional one for being part of a squad or  maybe a squad point with every seven you earn. This would be useful for the Expert badges as it could really make a difference that extra point or two. The UAV and Scan spots could last Slightly longer for a player who was in a squad as opposed to the isolated lone wolf.

     Still some people only join squads to use the command screen or occasional spawn forward. And then they wander off from their squad entirely being of no tactical use. The Squad is full and no one else can join, yet it wont or cant act as a Team. To promote squad tactics they should make it so being with your  own squad would have additional benefits. For example. Health, Ammo or Repair could be dispensed, accepted, effected or absorbed faster by your own Squad members. Example, if a Medic can Give 5 health Bars in 4 or 5 seconds, His own Squad mates could absorb it in 3 or 4. The distance at which assistance could be given or received should be slightly greater for your own squad members. The same with Repairs. Damage could be repaired quicker if its your squad mate. If you spotted someone or some thing the spot would last a bit longer on your squad mates mini maps. I think this would over all facilitate better team play and tactics. You would find Squads would be more well rounded with different kits.

    We have all seen how just three or four clan members can really swing a game in even a 64 player server.  Its Team work. I believe this would promote the game as it was designed, and if you were just having fun, You really wouldn't notice the differences implemented. Also, I cant see how this would be a detriment in any form.

I really wanted to double post this in Chatter and BFS2 but thought they get pissed.

" Well miss. First off, I will teach you how to post, And after a couple of nights, when you get the technique down, Hell we can even put you on a horse "
Yeah.....I think you should get a bonus for being squad leader.  You take on more responsibility.  Like a kill assist or something.  Nothing off the wall.  Maybe if your teams wins you get a certain percentage of your total squad points or something....kind of like commander but obviously not the 2x.
