I have a GF 5600 Ultra. Most of my specs are on low. My medium specs are Texture, Terrain, and Effects. My view distance is set to 85%. That is pretty much the max my system can handle without lag. What specs do you raise if the rest are low? Which effects make the game experience better for you?

If your system can hang... turn your anti-aliasing up to 4x... that really helps the game look better... it's fairly graphics intensive though, but worth it IMO. And if you can get 2gb's of RAM... that really helps with the lag and studder at the beginning of the round.
Turn off shadows and fancy lighting effects. Also, no AA (Anti Aliasing).. Draw distance or terrain im sure would next.
You never mentioned what screen resolution u have set..
me tho, i have everything maxed.. it helps to have a made-for-bf2 pc

i have everything on low and my computer still can barely handle it. woohoo!
i have every thing on high with 4x AA and no slowdown.

I'm having somewhat of the same problem. My computer is pretty good, not the greatest but it's good. It bugs me to no end when people are shooting at me from what I see as fog. I have me screen set to 800x600 @60hz. medium settings, view distance 100%. Although it doesn't seem like it. I tried it at a higher res but too much lag or studddering. Any suggestions?
My comp specs:
P4 3.2G
ATI 9600XT Pro
1.5 G RAM

besides a faster card???? You really need 100% distance more than anything else.
The 9800 XT pro 256mb is pretty cheap used on e-bay <100 bucks.
You might also want to try ATI tool up the memory first to max stable.
Back it off a little say 3Mhz
Then max out the core, with the memory setting at max -3Mhz.

first off this is my first post - so hi all
bustamante, what are your lighting details set as, are they medium as well? and what AA do you have on, if any? the 9600XT is still a really good card and can handle most of the higher settings quite easily, I know someone with similar specs to yours but with an extra 512MB of ram and he can run the game with everything on high at higher resolutions just with the lighting effects turned down. I guess other than that i can ask the obvious things like do you have anything running in the background that could be resource hogging? Also how does the game run in higher settings at 800x600?

ok... first vjs: you lost me. ATI tool up memory? Dont know how to max out core. Please enlighten me.
Barney: I have everything set on medium with the AA off. I can play with everything higher than 800x600 but with some studdering. as far as resource hogging, i pulled up the msconfig dialog and there was a shit load of services running. but i unfortunately don't know which ones i can stop.
