Lots'O fly guides to be found, but can somebody give me a short guide on aiming bombs? I used to s*ck at flying but now I manage air-to-air pretty reasonably, however I still can't hit shit on the ground even in a clutter of tanks with an A10. I tried dropping my bombs from low, medium and high altitude; I tried dropping them slightly earlier or later, a little less slightly too; I tried not to look at the HUD line, I tried looking just at the HUD line. I might get a lucky shot occasionally, but that's it and I don't seem to get the hang of it. My flying and air combat skills are up to average standards now, but my bombing skills are lacking way behind.

Whoever provides me with a working & short (I don't want a manifest) guide or links me to it, gets a Karma

do dive bombing

really, its just a matter of when it feels right.  It took me about a month, but after i flew enough i just felt when i should drop the bombs and i'd hit.  So practice a lot and you'll get better

there really is no way to show you how to bomb though, simply because of the number of ways you can bomb someone...

san4's short bombing guide:

1. Cruise at 200 ft or higher and dive down at the target. The steeper your dive the more accurate you can be.

2. Use the center of the hud screen as a basic aiming guide. I place it slightly past the target. Release bombs on the way down, before you pull up. Release them as low as possible without crashing. Never slow down. The steeper your dive, the closer the center of the HUD should be to your target.

Confession: I frequently place the center of the HUD on the target and release bombs as I start to pull up. Don't do that.

3. The most important thing: practice bombing on singleplayer Operation Clean Sweep. I've got like 50 hours on it. If you are missing targets you can record a demo to check how you're missing them (after pressing ` to bring up the console, I think the commands are "demo.recorddemo filename" and "demo.stoprecording").

4. Pretty much everything I know I learned from Zenmaster's guide.

I can edit it down to 3 points if 4 is too long for you.

I'd ignore pretty much all of the fancy dropping guides where they tell you to use the altitude & HUD.  Just play it by feel & experience.  Most of the time you won't be flying level when dropping bombs (e.g. flying steady at 200 ft while ogling your HUD in an F-35B is a recipe for near instant death) and you'll be swooping down on the target instead.  Like san4 said, the steeper your dive, the closer to the area the crosshair is over the bombs will land.  I'd also try bombing in single drop mode in fighters.  I can't get any decent accuracy in double drop mode unless I go near vertical because I have a habit of pulling up before the second bomb releases (meaning it flies off-target).  Drop your bomb and switch to rear-view to see where it lands, then try dropping earlier/later or making your dive steeper if necessary.

On the F35 you can pretty much line up bombs using the curved part of the HUD that shows your roll angle. There was some video I saw on "precision bombing" a while ago that showed it. It works pretty much regardless of your angle of attack as well, just so long as your not rolling.

Try switching views after you drop to see where the bombs hit , and use your cannons on the gorund alot ' it will get you use to diveing.
I put the target in between the center , and bottom hanger on your hud     O

It is certainly true that no guide can give you a hard and fast rule about how to aim bombs because your speed and angle are always changing.

That said, however, it is useful to have a starting point to practice with so you can develop the feel & experience. For me, at least, experience & feel tell me how much to deviate from my starting point of having the center of the HUD on the target while I'm diving.

Yes, flying straight at 200ft in an F-35B can get you killed, but it's a good starting point to practice bombing accurately (higher is safer and better for getting a steep dive). And looking behind you can be useful when practicing but it's very difficult for a new pilot to switch views while dropping bombs and pulling up. It is a useful thing to learn though, and it is essential for dogfighting.

Last, when you consider the advice people give about flying, see how many hours the advice-giver has in a plane. Arnie_Ze_Austrian & I have more than 50 hours (and we're not experts), but some of the other posters in this thread have minimal experience.

I have 1 account with xpert aviator , and another with vet .
I have a account separate from above with xpert hele so don't let Anewgirls stats if any fool you I know how to fly well in this game .
Switch views it's not hard just pull back on the stick' what are you going to hit the clouds?

The very basics from what the guides have taught me:

1. Angle of attack - The steeper it is, the more accurate it will be.
2. Use single bombs with fighters - (for the most part), because you're only dropping one at a time, you'll have a better chance of hitting a target with both bombs although you have to do two runs.
3. Just try and try until you get a constant feel of what you need to do. I'm still no expert, but I can consistently drop bombs in a general area with relatively decent accuracy after trying it over and over.
4. If your target is moving, still try and aim a little in front of him, even if you're dive bombing.

im not having a go at you here, but if people cant figure this out after playing bf2 for even 5 minutes, its clearly the wrong game for them.

Lol, if people can't figure out something as logical as that, perhaps life is the wrong game for them
