Ok. Just happend again.

BSOD. Winlogon.exe needed to close and my computer shuts down because of this fatal system error. It's been happening as of yet and I was wondering if anybody could possibly identify the source (or multiple, possible sources) of this issue.

Any help is appreciated. I don't even know where to start with this.

shut it down manually before it closes it self. the only problem i ever had with it was it eating 100% of my cpu. I restarted and then no problems after that

What happens is that usually durring the log off procedure, I'll get a bunch of windows that say "TRSKW:[some random process].exe" End now? I click end now, they do their thing (3 to 4 messages are the norm). After this, A window comes up that says winlogon.exe has experienced a problem. I can terminate it or debug it. Either button I click, the computer goes BSOD and I get a message that says that a fatal stop error (c00002a1 or something close to that). It says the system has been shut down, and then I press the power button on the front, cut the power, and re-boot.

It comes back on, gives me the whole error report thing, which I report back to Microsoft (10+ times it's happened in the past 3 months). After this, it's fine for a while. I'm looking for a cause/somthing I've done/something that triggers this kind of thing. I want to find a solution.

It's frustrating.

Well google it yourself, several sites back this up, so Id run a virus scan, or whatever you can to try and get rid of it.  Good Luck.

Winlogin.exe is a virus, however winlogon.exe is a normal part of Windows XP. Clarification as to which is causing the shutdown, macK?
